Forums - NSFW - Let's Talk About the Dangers of Porn

Porn is a poor substitute for having a real relationship with someone.  You lack connecting with someone, lacking love, and what you have is a totally self-absorbed activity.  Focus on that can end up causing a development of preferences that aren't realistic either.  And one can say it is shallow and empty in the end also.

Not necessarily addiction, but you have cases where you end up placating with porn, and end up missing living.  The harm is in removing a drive to actually do something and change, and live in the real world.

Porn is mostly misoginian crap, and causes deviation and depravation to a lesser extent too
if i had to choose i would say porn should be prohibited

Porn isn't supposed to be a substitute for a relationship, that's somewhat like saying that movies are a substitute for friendship. Porn is adult entertainment, and can certainly act as a good accessory to a relationship for quickly increasing the mood so that sex is more fun, or to enhance masturbation experience as a visual aid.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Individuals, who use it to placate needs, could end up just settling on porn instead of trying to find someone.  When it ends up falling into that role, then that is one of the problems with it.  The original post said nothing was wrong with porn.

Porn isn't going to replace a relationship for anyone who is mentally normal. If a person is not mentally normal, and porn satisfies all the needs of a relationship for them, then this isn't the sort of person you want your daughter or sister dating anyway.

In theory yes. In practice, some people may come to their senses when coupled to a woman, I've seen mens' lives change after marriage and become completely different persons. As such, the accountability of a woman would be enough to put a person like that in line.

And that gets to an important aspect to this.  If anything gets in the way of someone finding a way to better themselves, then that way is a problem.  The question here is one of there being anything wrong with porn, and that is one of them.  In and of itself, is there anything wrong with pictures of people in different sexual positions?  Not sure that one can say there is.  The issue is how someone is impacted by it, and what industries develop around it and push it and the result of the production of such.

Porn is addictive. I keep deleting my porn folder but always end up building it back up. God damn, leave me alone porn!

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Maybe you can buy some indulgences to placate your guilt

Why are you so passionate about porn?

becuase I have a small stake in the porn industry and I'm sick of being demonized for it, expecially when the jutification for judging porn and porn users is linked to religion or general ignorance.
