Forums - Nintendo - Analyst WiiU GameStop sales below expectations

From my understanding, Nintendo hardware and software generally performs better at retailers like Walmart, Target and Toys R Us than it does at dedicated gaming and eletronic stores.

I also wonder to what extend the expansion of digital sales has angered retailers like Gamestop who depend on second hand game sales being that digital games can't be sold second hand.

@Kitler, I'm a numbers person. Give me numbers. I'm a business analyst by education. I don't use words like "abundant" or "low". If I did, I would have failed . iversity. I would use specifics. I don't know what Mr Bhatia's qualifications are, or where he gets his numbers that no one has seen and he hasn't revealed, but he has told us nothing but his unsubstantiated opinion. I substantiate mine. WiiU is selling at 81% of Wii, it's on pace to sell at Nintendo's shipping projections. This tells me it's selling at the level it's being shipped. This means it's supply constrained. You can bring me up in various threads or make mocking comments, but until you have numbers that contradict me, you're only making yourself look foolish, childish and insecure.

I work for Gamestop and the Wii U is not supply constrained.

*sigh.

Please give me the information on shipments of WiiU received, and sales of said shipments. I am specifically interested in ATII or Average Time in Inventory for one WiiU console. I am looking for the data chain-wide, not for one specific store. Thanks.

No way Im giving official numbers as I have zero interest in being fired.

That being said if you want a Wii U gladly walk into any of our stores and you will have no problem finding one

lol. Nice try. Thanks for playing.

Excuse me?  Its well established I work for Gamestop theres been posted proof here

The Wii U is not supply constrained.  Period end of story at ANY retailer.  Wal-Mart, Gamestop, Target, or Best Buy.  That doesnt mean it hasnt had a successful launch however.  It has done pretty well.  That being said calling Wii U supply constrained is a flat out lie

Weren't you supposed to be a numbers person? If so, you should have those numbers if you are claiming that nintendo is selling all that they are shipping or something similar.

Get rid of the basic and drop the deluxe down to 300 right before next holiday season.  Give the early Wii U adapters ambassador games.

I would love to get more free games but doing that will only show that Nintendo made another pricing error on their hardware. Maybe, the issue is that they released the basic version in white and people just prefer the sleek look of black instead. I was more interested in the deluxe version, not because of all the extras, I bought it because it was black. My original Wii was white and it looked out of place next to all my other black electronic devices. If its going to be part of your entertainment area, it should match the rest of your devices. The Gamecube had the same issue being released in the kiddy color Indigo. Nintendo could have waited and released a white version later on.

You may or may not work at a Gamestop, I don't really care. However, I am quite certain you don't have access to info such as ATII for the chain. If you did, you wouldn't be scared of being fired.

I can't see the software numbers being big numbers all together. Big games like NSMBU might have reached more than 10k digitally, but other games are probably lower than that. Although even if those numbers are small it surely have angered Gamestop in some way.

I'm not fully sure I agree with that ...

The Wii U systems haven't been selling out on shipment day, but I've regularly seen empty Wii U cases which would imply that it is selling out before it is being re-stocked; and, while it would be unfair to say that the Wii U could sell a lot more with a better supply, it is still fair to claim that the Wii U is supply limited at the moment.

Take our word for it..the man works for Gamestop and has access to such info. It's well known here on VGC

Pretty much.  Theres proof enough everywhere I dont need to post exact numbers.

All you have to do is walk into any retail store and youll see plenty of consoles.  Go online to places where scalpers tried to buy them and sell them for high price and you see they all got completly screwed.  Look at any software chart and tell me how Wii U titles are blazing up.

How many statements has Nintendo made about extreme low stock and struggling to meet demand?  Im not bashing the Wii U at all as I think its a sokid system but this belief that the console is supply constrained at least in NA is a complete myth
