$100m devolpment, $40m marketing. totall=$140m

Dear God! They probably just broke even then.

I figured GT5 Prologue sales cancelled out the dev costs.....guess I was wrong.

Think? more like read...since I didn't read the appropriate posts until it was too late. honest mistake

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Halo 4 gets msft extra gold members so that adds up to the profit aswell. I think in the long run they will both have made the same amount of money. BUT Halo is a franchise you can expand out of games ( eg, forward unto dawn) and make money with. GT isn't.

^^^^ Thats true.

I personally bought FUD on Bluray. Halo 4 merchandise like the action figures brings in profit. Halo: Thursday War, Halo Cryptum, Halo Primordium and upcoming Halo Silentium are all tied to Halo 4 in plot.

Halo benefits from reaping profits in more then one entertainment medium. GT is basically limited to games. What else is there....t-shirts? Halo has those too.

FPS rapidly outselling a sim racer. Why would this shock anyone?

With this logic shouldn't Killzone have sold better?

Just saying, Halo was selling when RPGs were big it's always been popular regardless of what is "in" same goes for GT.

I think it's a pretty fair comparison

Days of Thunder remake with Tom Cruise car all black and littered with GT logos :P

Or Talladega Nights 2 with Will Farrells car being a GT themed car.

Do you think KZ is close to Halo in terms of following or sales power? I sure as heck don't. And of course Halo always sold, it's a FPS and a good one at that.

GT sales are a slow burn. If you're going to compare GT5 sales to past games as you are doing, then wait 2-3 more years then come back.

That's my point :)

And I'm just saying that both of them have sold regardless of what is popular in the industry, both are top exclusive IPs, the whole "FPS outselling Sim racer, Shocker!" line doesn't exactly apply here.
