I've never, ever thought of third party franchises as being exclusive, only individual games, and then only because of circumstance. Final Fantasy leaving Nintendo, for example, was because of circumstances, which means it can go the other way in the future if the situation is different. I've never had the slightest feelings of "betrayal" over anything like that. Likewise, I've never thought of Final Fantasy XIII going multi-platform as anything bothersome, it's just a business decision that makes sense. It doesn't hurt me in the slightest, so it's a non-issue.

As for franchises leaving Sony and going to Microsoft, I can't think of many important exclusives that Sony doesn't own that aren't already multi-platform. I would have said Valkyria Chronicles, perhaps, but it doesn't look like Sega is going to do anything with that, regardless. Unless you mean taking a multi-platform franchise and making it exclusive to Microsoft? In that case, I think you could open this thread up to Microsoft fans, as that's a question that could go both ways. Personally, if that were to happen with either, I think the disappointment and anger would be justified. I hate seeing multi-platform franchises become exclusives for no other reason that money and I would definitely be lessing willing to support a developer or publisher that does that kind of thing.

Actually, I think a better question could be something that has a shot at happening; how will Microsoft fans feel if Epic takes Gears of War multi-platform?

I doubt that will happen all the games so far have been published by Microsoft Studios.

It doesn't matter who published the initial installments, Epic owns the Gears IP and has at least hinted at the thought of going multi-platform with it.  Honestly, I doubt that Microsoft would let that happen, but you never know.  However, Epic could if they wanted.

I own all the consoles so "losing" an exclusive wouldn't bother me a bit. Although even if I only owned one console or the other, "losing" an exclusive wouldn't bother me at all unless it meant I could no longer play the franchise. Like I think Bayonetta 2 is like a WiiU exclusive? I don't think I'll own a WiiU so if I were a fan of that franchise, I would be bummed.

There's not much left but the only one I can think of is Final Fantasy Versus XIII but I strongly suspect it has gone multiplatform already and will be a next generation game so a money hat wouldn't be required.

I also suspect the reason why the PS3 got any exclusive content this generation at all is because the content was cut from the 360 version of the game due to disc space. Since that won't happen next generation it's only going to be even more in the next Xbox's favor in terms of timed exclusive and exclusive content from third parties.

I feel that it would be worse if it left your console and went exclusive on another...like Bayonetta 2 (that hurts). You still get to play these games, right? Or am I wrong? IDK.

playing your favorite game = $60

playing your favorite game knowing a random internet fanboy of another console can't play and the said fanboy is port begging = priceless

it was a silly notion to begin with. the idea that a 3rd party publisher couldn't go multi-platfom is and was ridiculous.

imagine if 3rd party would have held out on Ms in favor of Sony. would 360 be in second place?

Next gen, MS getting the next big Metal Gear Solid game, at least as a multiplat, would create the same FF13 backlash. Totally see that heppening.

But I agree, its sad seeing the fans turn on their once favourite companies just for going multiplat.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I will admit that I was initially shocked and filled with mixed emotions after FF XIII went multiplatform but I quickly got over it. I was more annoyed by other Publishers in particular Namco Bandai who I still feel shafted Sony the most at the start of the generation. I am still annoyed that I cannot play Tales of Vesperia on the PS3.

But if anything the lost exclusives as well as games that never made it to the PS3 have made me appreciate how much of an improvement Sony has made with their 1st party developers especially in the west.

As for which game would leave emotional scars for me personally it would be Final Fantasy VS 13 or Metal Gear Solid becoming exclusive to Microsoft or Nintendo.
