don't forget Vita is able to play PSP games, so i dont see why Sony stopping PSP market since there are still many developers not investing on Vita yet...
most important is is selling each PSP let Sony earn more profit than selling each Vita...
PSP are just for users who still can't afford to pay for Vita but still had a choice to play certain good games for the time being, never worry Vita will slowly totally take over PSP market when production cost gets cheaper, just give Vita some times... ^^

Vita is not able to play PSP games. You can't use PSP games you already bought with the Vita (no UMD support and no way to create ISO's and transfer them), instead you have to buy them all over again. The Wii can play GCN games, the DS can play GBA games and the 3DS can play DS games. Vita CAN'T play PSP games.

Seeing how the PSP still manages 2/3 of Vita sales it certainly seems so. Killing of PSP is no option though, as it still makes some money.

what i mean is digital PSP games from PSN...

and didn't mean play UMD games on Vita, the topic is about should Sony stop supporting PSP market because of Vita...

i say Sony shouldn't cause PSP still a choice for people who can't afford for Vita for the time being and new Vita owner will still have more games to play from PSN...

↑I know↑

Sony gives devs and publishers a lot of freedom. If they want to make PSP games, they can make PSP games. The Japanese publishers are the ones who have been doing that, holding off on Vita games because they want to make money on an already established install base. Vita sales in Japan have suffered for it.

Despite that Sony themselves have been heavily supporting the Vita with their own software. Just look at the list of games on Vita and you will see tons of Sony published games from various studios, along with upcoming studios. Hardware wise Sony is supporting Vita more as well, giving firmware updates and new features. The only real support they have given to PSP has been a price drop in Japan.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I don't think that's the sole reason. Hasn't it been stated that developing for Vita is much more expensive than for 3DS and PSP? So it would be more like they can't afford to risk a game bombing on the Vita as it would seriously hurt the studio. And although it's not 100% on topic: The 3DS is a far greater factor in Vita's devastating sales than the PSP. Almost all major japanese games moved from PSP to 3DS. That's the main reason, PSP is jut an additional pain in the ass.

I say yes. At this point in its Lifetime the Vita is really struggling to find its identity. Its an expensive handheld with a low number of titles on the market. That being said its a brilliant piece of hardware and I still think Sony can correct corse with the right price and a larger market of great titles.

Every game the PSP gets and the Vita doesnt is one less title for the Vitas thin library

I also believe its time for Nintendo to kill off the DS. While the 3DS is in a much b3tter position currently than the Vita it is still being somewhat held back by consumer confusion and the DS getting some of the titles the 3DS shoukd have such as Pokemon WB 2 and Pokemon Conquest.

Much more expensive? I don't think that's the case. Maybe if you are talking expense of developing a more graphically intense game like is so common with each gen. It's well known that development is easy on Vita, which helps with cost, and the kits are only $2,000 instead of the $20,000 they are use to when PS2 and PS3 came out. Some games like Oddworld HD only took one guy a few months to port, if I remember correctly. I've read people on here claiming it is expensive, but whenever I read developer comments they talk about the inexpense, and I haven't seen any data saying it is expensive.

Devs don't have to spend a ton of money on graphics is they don't want to. They could even use 2D. It's probably just not an ideal risk for publishers compare to PSP. That's why we see a lot of ports and multiplats, though there should be more given how easy it is to port to Vita. Seems WB gets it though. There are just so many platforms to develop games on right now.

No doubt 3DS is taking some software, but not much is it? 3DS isn't getting games hand over fist and plenty of PSP games are still releasing in Japan, topping the charts right along 3DS. It is only recently publsihers are starting to switch over to Vita, those games should start trickeling in over the next few months, then we will see larger name title announcements.

Yeah, but BC is the difference: As the 3DS actually plays DS games I imagine a good chunk of those sales could come from 3DS buyers. Not possible for Vita.

While I agree it didnt hurt Pokemon Conquest or Black / White 2 software sales had the game been a 3DS exclusive perhaps the software wouldve taken a small hit those 2 games woukd have seriously moved some hardware especially in Japan.

Either way Nintendo knows what they are doing but I just personaly think those 2 titles really shouldve been developed for 3DS

Yeah, the only BC players are those who racked up digital sales and that wasn't that common back then, i.e. PSP GO. PSP also didn't have its full game library on the PS Store like Vita does, and there are still PSP games that will never make it on the PS Store. 3DS has the advantage of upgrade over Vita.

B1: I think this is only partially true. While devs don't HAVE to spend money on graphics, they are expected to. The capabilities of the Vita were a major marketing point, so unless they play an e-shop game or a port consumers will expect good graphics.

B2: The point isn't software alone, it's the franchise behind it. And THE PSP franchise (Monster Hunter) is now on the 3DS, not on the Vita. That's a loss the Vita will barely be able to compensate (if at all), since MH was what drove many people to a PSP (especially in Japan).
