I respect the OP for keeping it real, but honestly. I felt that most gamers should have seen all this coming a MILE away. DBZ?? Holy crap, i knew that was gonna suck without even playing it, which i did at comiccon and surprise it sucked.

The reason why I had high hopes from DBZ was because I played and enjoyed the living daylights out of BT3 back in the day on the Wii. Without the motion controls, it was an amazing fighting game and what I really wanted at the end of the day was them to release BT3 in HD with good online play (which they also f-ed up by not releasing it with the Budokai HD collection), because that to me would be the ultimate dbz game. Actual working motion controls as a side addition to the standard controls for certain moves would be interesting.

Did you think that Kinect would have working controls? For a fighting game? Really? They just barely work for those exercise, dance and mini game compilations they put out. THe idea that it would have worked for a game like DBZ, a fighter no less, where you NEED to have precise controls at all time is, sorry to say this laughable. If they couldnt get it to work on the Wii with an actual controller, what made you think they were going to make it work with Kinect?

What I didn't want them to do was make a game that was full on motion control. I wanted them to use the traditional control and enhance it with Kinect in someway. I don't know, maybe its just me but I always find the idea of actually doing certain dbz moves (or some part of it) using motion control very good. I played BT3 pretty competitively with some of my friends with the Wiimote and honestly some of the gestures really did work and was fun even in a competitive environment; like how certain hand gestures true to the anime powered up your moves. I guess you could call it useless, but it was a nice feature I thought was cool that made you feel a bit more like you were playing dbz for real.

I see where you're coming from, but i think you were just hoping/expecting for too much with Kinect. Even if they used it in tandem with a controller i doubt it would have turned out good. Like Steel Battalion, but hell theres always next gen.

On the bright side I played alot of really great games.
The Walking Dead
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Xcom Enemy Unknown

These 3 stood out as really great games =)

You are the answer to every prayer I've offered.

You are a song, a dream, a whisper, and I don't know how I could have lived without you for as long as I have.

Games I saw that were terrible: Steel Battalion, CoD for Vita, Resistance: Burning Skies

Games I played that were terrible: Heroes of Ruin, Diablo 3, and like almost DSiware game lol.

I haven't really played a 2012 game that i've found to be terrible.

I cant only think of Diablo 3.

I could also say Ninja Gaiden 3 but I only played a demo and it was not that bad !

Resident Evil 6. I nearly cried when I played that game!

I only played one game I hated this year

Soul Caliber 5

TAKE THAT BACK!!!

SC5 was an amazing game. I'm still creating some of my favourite anime and video game characters in that game. Plus the battle system and online is just so good.

Okay maybe it wasn't amazing since the story mode was a complete trainwreck. It was the first game I can remember in a while where I literally just skipped all the story cutscenes/dialogue and just did the fights to get all the unlocks. Heck I sit through COD mission briefings and those are pretty boring by themselves, but this game dropped the ball. Luckily as I mentioned, the online and the mechanics of the game are solid, which is what really matters in a fighter to me.

I love the Soul Caliber franchise

But i thought SC5 was beyond awful.  At first I was truly in utter shock at how bad it was.  Its extremly rare I regret purchasing a game but SC5 was one of those times

why?

All the new characters are beyond lame

The single player was utterly worthless and really had zero things worth doing

The game basically abandoned everything other than online and character creation

Risen 2 was bad.
