The Wii U (1,817,166) have sold 88% of what the Wii (2,071,242) did in the same time frame, that's actually pretty impressive considering the Wii had the best launch since the PS2.

Only last/current gen home consoles. Too lazy to look for previous gens numbers. Although iirc in gaming history only the PS2 have sold more units at launch than the Wii.
