Forums - Sony - Sony ‘Employee’ Review: ‘I Don’t Have A Lot Of Confidence That Orbis Will Sell Well’

@mo
It's called FUD.
You spread it by leaking false information, which then riles up the media which then hits websites.
You said "why post there when he could post somewhere he is taken seriously".
Believe me, he is being taken far more seriously posting there. Just look at how much attention his post has gotten.
Remember, this was leaked to the press.
Key ways to tell it's fake:
1. he refers to his job as PlayStation, not sony america, or even the proper name of the division.
2. He calls it orbis, when the latest news was that it was called omni.
3. He says that playstation is getting casualized and not focusing on the core, yet this coming year has about 6 high-production games coming out...and things like wonderbook are gaining in sales.

It's not that harf to tell.

The PS4 will be domed.

Would be sexy if it looked like a UFO.

It certainly would and we can have threads about how domed it is.

Playstation:  The Next Generation Confirmed?

The next generation aint got nothing on the original.

Case and Point.  Its Domed.

Well true, but I still don't think that the reviewers intention was to give the PS4 a bad name. In fact, his review was made more reliable when he tried to give advice to Sony. And I certainly don't think he would have expected his post to gain so much attention. The reason it probably has become popular is because lots of people are trying to get any new information on these new consoles. Similarly, when Microsoft gave ads for its next Xbox (at the time called "Durango"), lots of sites reported it, but I certainly don't think Micrsoft expected it to become such a popular story.

And although I agree with your points, some of those points can be easily explained.

1.Maybe he doesn't want Sony to know exactly who he is.

2. Maybe when he was working for Sony, that was what it was called.

every release of information is an attempt to gain coverage, regardless of its expected success.

You also can't rationalize this with psychology, mate. Behavior is not appropriately reasoned with base-level readings.

Another thing, there is clearly no actual review of the job. There is no attention paid to actual details or employment quality, just that management has a bad strategy for the future of playstation, and will not sell well.

If you cannot see that this is fake, well, it's going to be impossible to convince you. Neither side here can reliably say exactly what he is, other than he's psychological analysis.

@theprof00

Ok, I now get and agree with why you think the review is fake.
Anyways, we shouldn't really be giving this review much importance, cause if we do, then we're just giving the reviewer what he wants ;) .

Honestly I find this review to be fairly credible, and I am perhaps the only person in this thread who is going to offer up a unbiased point of view.

Couldn't get past this.

@theprof00

There is one serious flaw in your logic. You cannot leverage a less reliable source against a more reliable source. We know the source of all the Omni rumors. So there isn't a argument to be made by volume. We also know that the source for that rumor has made claims that they are privy to information that they shouldn't possess, because it would be totally contradictory. After all you could possibly know the internal plans of one player in this market, but most assuredly not both.

I know you want to believe there is some super secret agent that is breaking into the offices of both Microsoft and Sony. Even if you believe that Sony is that incompetent, and mind you that wouldn't be totally unwarranted given their past screw ups. I don't see how you could feel that way about Microsoft. I mean this companies style of public relations is to put up walls of silence. So you know they take these kinds of things seriously.

Beyond that however you honestly think someone with such obviously incredible talent. Would gather this most valuable of information. Just to give it to some poor schmucks that work on a site that nobody gives a shit about, or has a genuinely well respected reputation. Yeah fuck competitors that would pay real money for this kind of real intelligence, and fuck major news outlets too. Yeah I could totally see a super spy passing up a pay day, or the chance at eternal fame like deep throat.

Seriously you can't discredit this reviewer by saying their story doesn't jive with the story you heard somewhere else. Especially when that story is so obviously a fabrication that was either created by the people who posted it, or who were more then happy to post anything they got if it just got them a little more attention. This review isn't even actually factually incorrect. Who ever posted this review isn't saying things we don't already know.

Sony's relationship with developers has been in the dog house since the PS3 launched, and this isn't a matter of my own personal opinion. Both Square and Konami actually bitched in public about Sony's pricing strategy. Not just in public, but on the show room floor no less. For two Japanese developers to do that is incredibly disrespectful. We know that Sony has had management issues. We know it, because Sony promotes them to figure head positions, and replaces them with new people. We also know they probably suck, because of how well Sony's business has been doing.

Anyway disgruntled employees happen, and the person who wrote this review wasn't even troll worthy in what they did post. A troll or hoaxer would have been more inspired instead of repeating shit we already know. They would have said something like Sony has surveillance cameras in the public restrooms, or the management walked around in beach wear, because they refused to pay for air conditioning, but insisted on everyone wearing suits.

Instead what we had here is someone who said decent benefits, good coworkers, and a friendly atmosphere. Just like what the majority of us would say about our work places. Followed by calling the boss a fucking moron, dismissing their ideas as fucking lame, and taking the side of outside groups that have had to put up with them. Just like what the vast majority of us would say about our jobs. You know out of the bosses earshot. You know I am still not seeing where this isn't plausible.

I am sorry this guy seems reasonable, normal, and unworthy of any special attention. You on the other hand seem to be far more interesting. Have you considered the possibility that you are just being compulsive obsessive with this one. I know why some dismissed this out of hand, but you have gone to a great deal of effort to discredit a source that is basically harmless.

kasz, that is extremely far fetched. I cannot believe you would entertain the notion that reviewers must send in documents by mail or scan. That's like asking yelpers to submit receipts of the places they visit.

Except one is about chinese food, and the other is about a career.   If they don't require any kind of authentication for higher level jobs they should.   Additionally to the other guy in the thread....

The IRS generally suggests you should keep your paystubs for at least 3 years in case you get falsely audited... but you should atleast keep your pay stubs for 1 year until you get your W2, because if they fuck up your W2's... (and mine have been fucked up before) you could end up paying too much in taxes, or paying too little and getting audited if you don't know what you should be paying.

Meh... too early to tell anything, about the outcome of next-gen. I love when people jump the gun, and bury Sony/MS/Nintendo, even before knowing anything about what the competition will offer
