in not-so-related but not totally-unrelated news, apple's earnings missed high expectations though beat average expectations.

apple shares off about 9% in after hours trading. not good for consumer electronics companies like nintendo or sony down the road.



the Wii is an epidemic.

 I'm truthfully surprised that any American company can grow thorugh this recession period. Kudos. And a computer hardware/software company at that!

 because you guys forget it and say silly things like Wii dying out, or Wii selling less than PS2

I got the feeling sony will announce around 10m sold to retailers. It's a nice round figure and if MS overstocked for the 10m call, sony can do it too.

^having 1 million in stock WW is not overstocked... so assuming the PS3 did sell [consumers] 9 million, I am quite sure Sony will announce 10 million sold [retail]... after all stock in Europe was probably below average, but there seemed tj be a lot of stock over the pond according to you Americans... Japan I have no clue, so call it average. @ Leni... you have to use the Wii figure from Dec 30 because thats when the Wii shipment data will be up till. Which means The Source expects Wii was undertracked worldwide [therefore it made 20 mil in 2007]

As posted already Sony's Fiscal Q3 Earnings announcement is January 31, 2008 [Thu] 17:20 (GMT+9).

FY06 Q3: 1.66
FY06 Q4: 1.91
FY07 Q1: 0.71
FY07 Q2: 1.31

Total: 5.59m

TheSource: "I'm expecting lifetime shipments for PS3 of 9.75 million"

That would place FY07 Q3 @ 4.16m.
