Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft made outstanding progress in North/Latin America, Europe, South Africa, India etc... Can it Conquer Japan Next Gen ?

Xbox Progress is something amazing, Europe, SA and especially North America and Latin America Xbox sell like HotCakes but this amazing progress are awesome but what about Japan ??

Here are a Few things MS Can do to Sell better on the Japanese market:

- Have a lot of colour bundles

- Final Fantasy or Monster Hunter Exclusive.

- Build some Japanese Studios or just buy SE or Capcom

- Lower Price than Competition

- More Japanese IPs

Although progress will still be made in America, Europe, Asia and other Japan still remains a Wild Card.

They made progress, true, but I wouldn't call it outstanding. Except the US and UK both Nintendo and Sony have a far better position. They have absolutely NO chance in JP, seeing that even the Vita is struggling there.

But they don't need Japan to do well, so it doesn't matters anyway.

They have buckets of cash so they should but Sega, Capcom, Konami and Square-Enix. If that fails then Japan really is a lost cause, but at least they would have the best first party lineup ever.

M$ should give up on Japan, they'll do just fine.

I don't want Microsoft to get involved in my Japanese experience in any way.

I say no chance for two reasons.

1. Nintendo will be too far ahead of them.

2. I believe (though I'm not certain) japan just doesn't like microsoft.

They have had exclusive monster hunter. They tried tales. They shared final fantasy. Nothing works for them there. Its like nintendo trying to take the call of duty crowd.

Small edit: if anything they should convince europe 360 2 is better then ps4.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Canada, Mexico, Brazil are all countries where Xbox is very strong, way more than Playstation. Also AUS Xbox has been doing great there.

USA:

X360 379,825 (+25%) 37,680,713
3DS 192,885 (+31%) 6,882,588
PS3 185,944 (+22%)

23,223,749

North America:

X360: 40.9m
Ps3: 25.2m

360: 4.2m sales

Ps3: 2m Sales

Xbox : 7.17 in Europe
Xbox 360: 22.51

its amazing progress, will end with more 20m sold than Original Xbox and by this path with more 60m WW if 360 Reach 84m.

a 200% increase in Europe isnt outstanding?  far better?

OK.

OT

No chance in japan, there are other things at play there.  But Japan is less important this gen and will be even more so next gen.  Doesnt mater, They have competed amazingly well considering they only sell in two of the 3 main markets.  I doubt any console ahas ever achieved that.

When you had pretty much 0 presence, and that grows by 200%... yeah, its not that big of a deal In the US and UK it made mirtacles tough, and even in Japan it managed to have a decent growth :))

To be fair to the original XBox it only got 4 years from Microsoft before they basically killed it off to make way for the 360, which will have had 8 years on the market.

As for Japan, it's irrelevant to Microsoft now, when they were trying to break into the game business in 2001, Japanese publishers were much more powerful and it was thought you had to have Final Fantasy and Metal Gear to dethrone Sony. Well MS got basically those franchises now.

Monster Hunter is primarily a handheld centric franchise.

Japan in general is a handheld centric nation now, the 3DS is the main "console" for a lot of people.

When MS dumped Mistwalker, I think that was a telling sign that they were washing their hands of the Japanese market.
