3DS has almost been out for almost 2 years and will likely be supported for at least another 4 years (obviously more like 5-7 years). My question is who will it past in the handheld life and how many estimate? Will over throw the almighty DS in Sales? Keep in mind the (+) mean their still increasing in number.

I believe lifetime sales might pass 100mil if nintendo plays there cards right. It'll be hard but who knows? The Least i See it doing is 70mil but i doubt it. Japan loves it now, and we haven't gotten the killer games that will push hardware (excluding MK7 and SM3DL) like pokemon gen 6, remakes, SSB4, Zelda Etc.
So it will Succeed over GBA i believe but hope over Game Boy!

I see 95 million, I think sales in North America and Europe are going to be way down, cell phones and especially the new mini-tablets are going to continue to chip away at the dedicated handheld market in the West.

Thats still really good considering that ipads, etc eating up handheld sales.

It won't do as well as the DS because the graphical leap from DS to 3DS is small, and chances are 3DS's lifespan will be significantly shorter then DS's (IMO), but with the momentum it has going, I can see it easily crossing GB sames, and probably get close to 140 million.

I give it 3-4 years before it passes PSP and possibly GBA

That seems plausible. If you notice the DS had a great 3rd year and 4th year. It climb the charts. Now considering nintendo brings out maybe a new model next year or 2014 and they play out their Big Cards (Pokemon gen 6 or Remakes, Zelda, DK, Another Mario 3D platformer, SSB4 [I believe it wont be like PSASBR meaning its own game and not cross play]) With AC new leaf, Fire Emblem, Luigi Mansion WW 1st half of 2013 lets see my estimates with numbers.

Right now where at 24.35mil WW
1st year we got 13.25mil sold and as of now this year 11.09.

Last couple of weeks its been selling well (not as much as last holiday but still breat) and now we have three weeks left. With great price drops and bundles we can expect great sales next weeks.

That'll add up to around 2.4mil making the year total 13.49 which should put 3DS only system up YOY.

So with this in mind total WW sales in two years should be estimated 26.75mil
Like i said above 2013 games and hopefully a couple unannounced will push hardware and 2014 with a new model and SSB4 drive up more

That should put 3DS in the 60.25mil range in 4years, but hey it can be much higher. It all depends on how Nintendo Plays things out!
This IMO. Just discuss what's your take on all of this.

I believe that it'll pass PSP for sure, and probably also GBA, and if Nintendo knows what they're doing it'll also pass the original GB - but I'm not too sure that they do though... If they knew what was good for them they'd have a much stronger line up this holiday in the West.

Exactly what i was thinking. It should pass 13mil this year in total WW sales but imagine if europe and America had AC new leaf and Fire Emblem? With a world release of luigi mansion in Nov and Dec this year?

I believe all these games combined would of pushed 3DS hardware over 4mil even 5mil alone! That would of been around 17.5-19mil this year!!! Especially holiday OMG. I dont even think im over exaggerating lol!

Yeah, I know what you mean! I think it could have pushed out another million on top of what it'll do as it is if they had only released AC: NL alone! I just don't get Nintendo sometimes...
