Thats the reason they want those games so badly, because if Nintendo fanatics can get all of the multiplatforms in most cases they dont have to buy the other consoles.

| RolStoppable said: There's a difference between exclusives and multiplatform games, so your argument is disingenious. Especially after a generation of: "If Nintendo's console were capable of running multiplatform games, it would get multiplatform games." - Now that the Wii U is here, Nintendo still doesn't get ports of many multiplatform games. And lo and behold, the third party apologists (third party representatives and forum posters alike) are adjusting their position, so they can keep pretending that there is nothing like anti-Nintendo bias amongst third party publishers. Those people should man up and concede that these decisions are driven by emotions, not business sense. |
I actually chose a multiplatform game, DQX is coming to Wii and WiiU if I recall. Similar situation is Monster Hunter which is going onto 3DS and Wii U. Regardless, I don't see how a multiplat game is required to be on every possible platform while an exclusive gets a free pass. If decisions can be made that make an exclusive make sense why can't those same decisions make exclusion of one platform over another two make sense?
I agree with you that the reasoning companies gave for not developing on the Wii were disengenuous, but just because a company says the Wii isn't capable of running a game doesn't mean that's the only reason that they didn't work with Nintendo. You're just assuming that's the only reason. They stuck with the most PR safe answer so as to keep as many people as possible happy, it's common practice.
emotions always leak into business sense. Truth of the matter is that Nintendo had all the third parties in the world until someone else came in and started treating the 3rd parties less shitty. Since then Nintendo has always been a second class citizen when it came to third parties, and that's perfectly legitimate. There's no statue of limitations on when a company that fucked up their relationships with other companies should be forgiven and bygones be bygones.
That there is an anti-Nintendo bias seems to stem from the idea that Nintendo did nothing to cause the situation themselves, and I have to disagree with that. Yes, there are anti-Nintendo sentiments amongst third parties, but there are reasons for it.
