Forums - Nintendo - What other Games could nintendo pull a Bayonetta 2 on?

Ninja Gaiden 4, Vanquish 2, Sleeping Dogs 2, Panzer Dragoon, remake of Resident Evil 2

They already kind of did a bayonetta 2 when they took MH.

Kingdom Hearts 3.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

People are quick to dismiss Bayonetta 2 because it may not sell well or that people won't buy WiiU for it and maybe those things are true, but they're missing the bigger picture here.

Bayonetta by itself may not make a big difference; maybe even two games of that calibur. But what about half a dozen or more? That could mean several exclusive games that give the WiiU library breadth and would go a long way to make the console stand out - even if each of those games sold 'only' 1-2m copies.

Whether Bayonetta 2 sells well or not, its got a lot of people talking about WiiU, not just in Nintendo circles, but Microsoft and Sony too (even if people were pissed about it, they were still talking) and it got quite a bit of coverage from the gaming media, so its kinda marketing gold :)

I would like Nintendo to team up with a talented western dev to produce a high quality FPS, something that would interest PS3/360 crowd. Nintendo now has the capable hardware, its now about getting the so called "core gamers" interested.

I mentioned this to fishtacos the other day, but what do you think about Nintendo scooping up some of the recently fired designers from Eurocom and create a new studio to work on a FPS?

Imagine the outrage if Nintendo gets Halo 5.

Ofcourse I would HATE this to happen but I like to imagine this hypothetical situation. All the chaos and stuff... lol.

Yay!!!

Ok, then let me try...
A good game with decent sales but not huge so Nintendo can afford the exclusivity

Persona 5 comes to mind, great reviews decent but not great sales and not very Hardware demanding
Soulcalibur VI, last edition sold less than a million copies and it has brand recognition
No More Heroes 3, the first 2 came to the Wii so a third one is a no brainer this time in HD

I was thinking SoulCalibur VI too :) That would make sense for Nintendo -- get a good fighting franchise and maybe insert a Nintendo character, a la SoulCalibur II.

That my friend, is a cracking suggestion. The FPS market is still thriving and it would be great to see Nintendo get a slice of that, if they could create a successful new FPS maybe 3rd parties will see there is a market for that on WiiU.

Shenmue 3

how about sega in general

If anyone was going to buy Sega it would be Microsoft. They have worked very closely together on several occasians and it would give MS a much needed local identity to Japanese gamers.

Nintendo has no need for Sega's back cataloge of franchises.

Nintendo and SEGA have far more synergies. Mario and Sonic game, game gear games on the virtual console for example, Sonic always performs the best on nintendo consoles and both companies are japanese (cultural issues and social acceptance). Nintendo has full need of SEGA now. Its the best way to atract the core gamer without affecting the family friendly Nintendo brand.

Microsoft can perfectly buy SEGA, but that would end in disaster. Theres no way the Japanese studios and the US microsoft ones would work well. All this would end up doing is locking SEGA's IP's so no one else can use cause we know microsoft wouldnt bother to get anything else out except Sonic wich is the million seller.

Nintendo doesn't need Sega franchises, but MS could. Nintendo does fine in Japan, they don't need more Japanese appeal. MS could use a Japan footing.

BTW, your opinion of MS is far too cynical.

Umm.. is it? Maybe we can take a look at what happened to RARE? It worked at first but then it collapsed.
