Yep. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are excellent at vector maths but they absolutely suck at certain types of general purpose code. GTA IV is designed from the ground up to take advantage of these wierd processors so none of the advantages of the Wii U's architecture comes into play and a lot of the weaknesses are exposed.

In a lazy port, that is.

There are other kinds of ports, especially for franchises as big as GTA, like actual platform-tailored ports. Assuming the reasonable (a non-lazy port), your argument crumbles.

Lazy huh? I think I've heard that before somewhere else.

Supposedly the Wii U version Assassin's Creed III is on par with other versions, and if you're concerned about how sandbox games might perform on Wii U, that's the only real evidence we have right now.

It all depends on how they code the game.

I agree. The porting process isn't as simple as some people here would like to believe, so making a decent Wii U version of GTAV may not be worth the trouble given how much effort must be put into rewriting the code. I doubt it would make much use of the Wii U's different capabilities and architecture, unless Rockstar determines that the Wii U version is worth putting so much time and resources into (it's probably not). However, I think a portion the people who want GTAV on Wii U might not be so concerned with port quality, and are more interested in its symbolic presence on a Nintendo home console.

^Well, to be fair, it is still launch. The thing's been out for roughly a week.

Even so, the disparity between first and third-party titles is immediately apparent. If I could go forward in time and see how things stand at the end of Wii U's launch window, I would. But for now, I will go by the information we currently have, which is also the information that publishers currently have.

^I understand, but it is a little early to judge the userbase that GTA would enjoy on release this early on, I hope I'm not being unreasonable.

Right. If I were Rockstar/Take-Two, I might wait a bit longer before making any plans for a Wii U version.

One thing I wouldn't do is refuse to look into it due to launch week sales of 3rd party games.

Yes. Now as a gamer, I will definitely suggest fellow gamers interested in third-party games on the Wii U to go out and buy them regardless of how well they do at launch, because I believe in preparing for the worst-case scenario.

@Fox. I don't buy games I don't like, I don't want to play. Were it Max Payne, I'd buy it. I don't have the luxury of doing that, and I'm surprised how so many gamers are able to spend so much money on games. I mean movies cost 10$-20$ a pop. But making a 60$ statement is quite the statement. I mean, that's how my wallet works at least.

Going well so far. Those 66 signatures will make Rockstar notice the WiiU, for sure.

almost 100 now!

..although about 250 have voted for the threads poll and the thread has been view over 2000 times.  guess wiiU owners really don't want GTAV.
