I have a hard time getting excited for games anymore. I've been let down too many times this generation.

Not anymore... I get hyped a little bit but then it falls flat after a little bit. Skyrim got me hyped a little bit, and I am still disappointed about that.

Use to be easy for me to get brainwashed into buying the next big game or console, but recently, I've gotten better about breaking from the Matrix so-to-speak. Maybe part of it's because I have had less money to spend lately, but I've been better about backing up and looking critically at games and console and making sure It'd really be worth it. I very very rarely buy games at full price anymore, and this actually marks the first time since the N64 that I haven't bought a Nintendo console at launch. Basically I've realized, if a developer wants me to spend $60 on a video game, they'd better make sure it's top notch, and that I'll be playing it for months to come.

Nah not a lot of games make me hyped just the big Nintendo games because they are deeply rooted in me some how.

I've never bought a system on launch and I can't remember the last time I did for a game.

As a Nintendo fan, once or twice a year. Trice if Nintendo works really hard.
As a Microsoft fan. Once every few years.
As a Sony fan. Every single day.

I tend to know what I want and create my own hype. Gears is my favorite new franchise and it was probably the third game I bought for the console. I haven't even set foot in the thread for the newest title.

I get more hyped for unknown games like Enslaved and Hunted than established franchises. I also seem to totally ignore exclusive hype threads because they always set unreasonable expectations.

Depends what it is... Halo 4 hyped me up very much for example. I was more hyped for it more than I am currently for the 720/nextbox. It can easily be argued that it is because there is no real solid evidence about specs and capabilities that I'm not that hyped but rumors are usually a lot more ambitious than actual facts. So, yeah.

In short, it depends.

Im a person who wants to have the best things.
I don't care if Call of Duty is cool at school - I never would put it even close to something like Battlefield 3 Ultra Settings.
I want the best > I get the best.

I don't care if some kids hype up some casual garbage while i know the good stuff that isn't selling that well cause it isn't made for little kids is much better.
For myself there isn't anything like hype - I just know the things i want to get are awesome or at least i will like them.
Most people for example buy,watch,listen to stuff in this Gen(in every media) cause its somehow "hip" right now.Cause the TV and Adds are telling them to buy this stuff.
This is why people listen to Justin Bieber,watch crap like Twilight and play Casual FPS like CoD.Not cause they think its the best > The media told them to buy it cause otherwise they are outsiders.

I know i will have fun with the new Zelda cause i grew up with the Franchise
I know a Versus13 as a PS3 Exclusive will be godlike cause i trust Team Nomura.
I know the Last of Us will be the best (looking) game in this console Gen cause Naughty Dog has shown more than once what they can do.

There is no hype for me - Its just facts that cover with my own experiences and preferences that make me buy a game or a console.
I know the NextBox won't be as awesome as the PS4 but there will probably be that ONE game i have to get somewhere in the console cycle(Tales of Vesperia was the one for the 360 but it got ported - M$ should give me back my money) so i will buy it then.
The same goes for the WiiU - I will buy it for Zelda,hopefully with a nice bundle and will probably then get here and there games like Bayonetta 2.
I don't care for the hype around Halo,ZombieU and other stuff with that people try to justify their purchase or even try to justify bashing on other consoles.
I for myself know what i like,what i will buy and for what im waiting for.
