Hynad said:Mission accomplished, but Sony is continually narrowing the gap year after year. They're almost tied and the 360 profitted greatly from its head start of a year. I know people like you don't like when we mention that head start, but during that year, the 360 sold 6M units before the PS3 was even out. Look at the gap now. That head start is steadily vanishing. The PS3 is selling at a faster pace than the 360.

Sony and Ninty won the gens with their first consoles. And the second gen that they participated too.
Has 360 even had a price drop this year? :-S
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.
come on 360 lets finish this up and stay ahead of ps3 going into the next generation.
no they havent had a price drop and neither has ps3.
Both are content now to sit at 199.
Sony's decision to not drop price is actually something they learned from ms. dont price drop, just shuffle the features in more and more. For example, kinect and elite was 199 this year and at release was like 349.
What i mean yo say is that neither console has a SKU below 199. Their consoles drop in price, but never below that point.

lol why is all the PS3 guys so blind to relevance? People wont care after all 3 next consoles are out. They just wont care. To celebrate is to celebrate lowering the bar. Taking 2nd place, not 1st, after 7+ years with a history of being #1 for 2 gens is celebrating mediocrity. 360 will win in the timeframe of the generation being most current, and has done leaps and bounds better then last gen. There is no victory for you. |
It seems that the PS3 "taking" 2nd place from Microsoft is an annoyance to you thus you care more than the people you attempting to point out. The reality here is that if both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are still in production after the next Xbox is released, there are still consumers choosing one of those consoles over the other. So these consoles are still competing for consumers. This is revelant, this is reality. No blindness to it unless you deny this reality which exists in all free markets. And I'm not quite following you when you say "There is no victory for you." My wife just purchased me a new Nintendo DSi XL burgandy just last Friday. Since then, I've already purchased 10 games for it. This is what I want, this is what I got, this is what I'm enjoying not counting future DS purchases. THIS IS VICTORY SO I'M VICTORIOUS!!! "PS3 guys???" I love my DSi XL, I love my Wii, I love my PS3, I love my PSP, and I love my Atari Flashback 4.0, all of my most recent purchases since 2007. And I've been eyeing the Xbox 360 which I'm sure I'll love that too when purchased. Just because something stated is reasonable and it doesn't favor your Xbox point of view doesn't mean it's from from a blinded "PS3 guy." Sometimes it is what it is, truth and life. Live it.

Yes it got a temporary $50 one for the holidays in USA |
not in europe unfortunately
I think sales is just pointing out that from a standpoint of market share, MS has done incredibly well, similarly Nintendo even more so.
Clearly, in terms of market share, the PS3 underperformed for Sony, despite it still being a successful product.

Actually, MS dropped the 360's price in the US by $50 sometime in Oct. They were supposed to only last through the holiday season. However, given the drop in sales, even with the price cut, I'm thinking they may make them permanent. I'm surprised the PS3 has done so well with no price cut and the new entry price is $270, with Uncharted 3. I was predicting a $199 SKU this year (they only had on available for Black Friday), but I guess Sony is making profit a priority this holiday season. Can't wait to see sales next year when they actually drop to $199.
