Forums - Gaming Discussion - FOX NEWS on MASS EFFECT Sex Debate

"I don't understand how people have such a problem with games, but not movies and TV."

They got used to those. Duh.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Coverage like this usually helps sell a game. Goooooooo Mass Effect!

As a journalist who has a firm understanding about ethics and truthfulness in news, FOX Noise isn't news. It presents one view on issues - their view. No one in journalism takes them seriously.

They phail and should just stick to movies and American Idol ...

I know I was outraged by this news piece, particularly because mass effect is one of the few games we're woman weren't treated just like a sex object. The one woman was thought it should have an adult only rating. I'm like come on, if those scenes were in a movie it would be pg-13, and the other guy was like I wouldn't let mass effect in my house! I'm like did you ever rent a bond film? it's like ten times worse. people who don't play games are complete idiots. They didn't even address the fact that 1. there is not real nudity in the game, not even a nipple is shown, 2. no actual sex is shown, just much like network tv the inference and lead up to which. 3. it's not be advertised to kids just because it's a game, most people playing this are adults.

This is all hype for old people who think only kids play games, and what kills me is most people have the internet in their home where their kids can within seconds can watch tens of thousands of woman perform unspoken sex acts. But no, lets worry about the playing 30 hours of a game to check out half a boob. News won't talk about that because porn on the internet is old news.

Has anyone else raised this controversy?

Also, was it reported as news or on one of the "talk shows" -- which tend to me more conservative in tone than the news or other "news" channels.

(I will give Fox this, they do tend to try to present both viewpoints, not that those left-of-center get given much credience or respect on all occassions).

Fox news has an agenda... No news station should have an agenda. At least they should try to hide it. Don't make it so obvious that big companies call the shots and decide what can and will be reported.

yeah. That's pretty much Fox news for you. I'm actually surprised they didn't bring on Jack Thompson.

So next time VGC screws up on software sales ala CoD4 I guess its cool for folks to just say "Thats pretty much VGC for you"? Lets get serious. Out of all of the news outletts I get news from Fox easily has the best and most thorough coverage. I disagree with a lot of the slanted crap their anchors and reporters say but its just as bad as what I hear on CNN, BBC, or MSNBC and the like, the only difference is that its slanted the other way.

If you don't like the story then just say so, making this about Fox is just a copout for dealing with the issue. Rather than discussing the topic you're just blaming the good'ole safe thing to blame on the internet. And frankly I'm getting tired of the lemming approach to politics that people seem so content with. Lets hear what you have to say about the issue!

That's fox news for you.    8)

And I bet those people complaining let their kids watch movies and tv shows with more sexual content than that.

Can you imagine the news if the game let you choose to have a gay relationship instead?

I just think it's unbelievable that some people actually use FOX News a their news source.

Exactly. People who think that's journalism haven't got a clue. It's an aburd circus show.
