A flood of third party ports right out of the gate, ok fair, if subpar PORTS justify $350 for a new console. Look at the sales though. NintendoLand barely broke the top ten during the console launch... and it was INCLUDED in the box set. The wiiu just launched, you're telling me THESE numbers are the BEST nintendo can pull off? COD sold how much, im guessing 100k? Guess what the likelyhood of another COD title on wiiu wil be?

It's jut not a rosey picture for nintendo, why defend the mistakes at this point? All I see is negative artcle after negative article about wiiu, three weeks after launch. They're justified too, we knew this was gonna happen.

None of us really know what is going to happen at this point, but I doubt everyone's going to look at the first week sales of those titles and immediately decide to pull the plug; they'll probably give the benefit of the doubt and give it another month for the system to find its userbase AND for players to check out those titles.

The issue here is not "giving it time." Wiu has all the time it needs (less than 2yrs). The fact is that nintendo only managed to secure two multiplat titles out of 17.

It's all playing into the narrative that nintendo just isn't participating in the actual marketplace. It's alway an attempt to sidestep the competition, except this generation it looks like that will be impossible. Motion controls were a fluke that payed off big time. A dedicated handheld dual screen strategy for a home console, not so much.

When developers shift all of their efforts on PS4/720, it's going to become even more difficult to justify anything wiiu related. What reason would there be? Sales perhaps, but they would have to be monumental.

The only area I see this potentially happening would be Western third parties because they always have been fickle.  Japan, however, is a different story.  Nintendo is clearly king there and WiiU (so far) has been making a good showing.  Even if PS4 DOES show up in Japan, I doubt ANY of the major publishers are going to be that eager to jump on it, especially if the newer console turns out to be a pricey one.  Secondly, I don't see Sony going for uber powerful this time because of what they suffered from PS3 and Vita.

Just because we haven't heard any confirmations yet doesn't mean it's time to assume the worst.  Hopefully it won't take Nintendo TOO long to address the issue.

A good explanation I heard was that developers were flat out with their next generation engines for the PS4/Xbox Next and they couldn't spare the engineering resources to also develop for the Wii U.

Tease.

Okay, out of all these releases, the only that come out on Wiiu are in bold:

Aliens: Colonial Marines
Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel
BioShock Infinite
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2
Crysis 3
Dead Island Riptide
Dead Space 3
DmC
Fuse
Grand Theft Auto V
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Metro Last Light
Remember Me
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Tomb Raider

Only these 2 games are on WiiU aswel, why don't the rest come out on WiiU aswel? These are the biggest and most important 3rd party releases for next year. Why are these games skipping Wiiu?

Honestly speaking... I dont really care about any of those games. But I guess some people do so... 3rd parties are not going to support the wiiU, fact. Is that a problem for nintendo? maybe, but only if they dont manage to streamline their gaming releases. We all know 3rd parties simply can not compete with nintendo on nintendo's hardware, simply there is no contest. The good thing about that list is that only 2 games are from Japanese companies. One from Kojima (Nintendo hater to bones) and one from capcom which is kind of surprising, but we know capcom is already supporting the wiiU with MH3GU. I guess when nintendo stated they were after third parties, they made it look like if they were behind all third parties (western and east devs) but in their mind they knew western pubs will not make any effort unless they see the chance of a quick cash-in. So they will focus on making deals like they are doing it with team ninja and platinum. Bayonetta bolds well for wiiU exclusive games, and that's what nintendo has to do, get good quality exclusives from Japanese devs.

Funny, I don't remember Kojima really hating Nintendo; why would he have allowed them to use Snake in SSB4?

It is too early to decide anything about third party support on wiiu and I wouldn't be surprise if it turns out to be just like the wii. Nintendo could release the most powerful console on the planet with zero software développement cost and have the entire world as they install base and still have a lackluster third party support. People need to realize that, especially nintendo themselves. They always get ignored by third party to the point that it has become some kind of a norm or something. The only way for nintendo to have a decent support is to put sony and microsoft out of the competition which is obiviously imposible.

Oh please.  That kind of talk is just like saying Nintendo should not even try to get third party support at all.  That's the last we need to hear.  Just because we haven't heard anything from 3rd parties yet doesn't mean they're not planning anything, and I don't expect the support to be like Wii, especially not by the end of 2013.
