| WindyCityHeat said: The issue here is not "giving it time." Wiu has all the time it needs (less than 2yrs). The fact is that nintendo only managed to secure two multiplat titles out of 17. It's all playing into the narrative that nintendo just isn't participating in the actual marketplace. It's alway an attempt to sidestep the competition, except this generation it looks like that will be impossible. Motion controls were a fluke that payed off big time. A dedicated handheld dual screen strategy for a home console, not so much. When developers shift all of their efforts on PS4/720, it's going to become even more difficult to justify anything wiiu related. What reason would there be? Sales perhaps, but they would have to be monumental. |
The only area I see this potentially happening would be Western third parties because they always have been fickle. Japan, however, is a different story. Nintendo is clearly king there and WiiU (so far) has been making a good showing. Even if PS4 DOES show up in Japan, I doubt ANY of the major publishers are going to be that eager to jump on it, especially if the newer console turns out to be a pricey one. Secondly, I don't see Sony going for uber powerful this time because of what they suffered from PS3 and Vita.
Just because we haven't heard any confirmations yet doesn't mean it's time to assume the worst. Hopefully it won't take Nintendo TOO long to address the issue.
