Nintendo set themselves up to get mauled on Sony and Microsoft's turf next year. They should've truly stuck with the casuals this holiday season. Now its time to play with the big boys.

Yah, poor little Nintendo. They should know they can't play with big ol' Sony and MS.

*Rolls eyes*

Come on...you can't say the Wii wasn't successful. They need to stick with that crowd because it works. They added about 50 million casuals to the industry. The chances of those people sticking now is slim.

Yeah, so successful Nintendo had 'the big boys' following their lead.

Nintendo isn't some underdog in this industry.

And people like you annoy the fuck out of me with your 'casual nation' shit.

Following what lead? The move was in the making since what? 2004? Sony knew motion gaming was going to become a trend since the PS2 came out. You believe everything the media tells you don't you? Nintendo might not be the underdog anymore (when Sony had them in a vice grip), but they  are definitely the outisder who just joined the core party. Again....when Nintendo has done this they've always lost the battle.

Yeah, only an idiot would think Sony releasing Move wasn't a result of the Wii's big success. I'm sure they planned to release when they did all along even after they said the market would never catch on.

Look up the tech videos, Sony had been developing a wand like device to accompany the Eyetoy since after the launch of the first version.

Okay, okay. The  Wii had nothing to do with PS Move releasing. It was just a coincidence it released when Wii had made motion gaming popular.

It was part of Sony's plan all along.

Keep ignoring the existence of the Eyetoy to make yourself feel better. This is no longer an debate (LOL).

Repeat with me: Sony is perfect, they can't do anything wrong.  Lol.

OT: I think the Wii U will be the global leader after the first price cut.

@S.T.A.G.E

You wouldn't be ignorant of a couple of motion control device called the Power Pad, and the Power Glove would you. I am sorry you don't have a argument, and many users have pointed out these Nintendo devices before. How many times do we have to pull out old Nintendo motion control devices before the reality sinks in. Nintendo was doing motion control long before Sony even dreamed about entering the console market. The Wii mote is just the evolution of the Power Glove concept. All they needed to do was but the game pad in the off hand. I don't think that Sony inspired Nintendo to become more ergonomic with their concept.

The Move is absolutely derivative. What matters is the appearance of copying. Even if Sony had a similar design in their labs. They should have scrapped that design, and went with something different. After all Microsoft wanted to copy that experience on their console, but they came up with something identifiably their own. Sony should have been a little more inspired. Oh by the way I still think those controllers look like vibrators.

I never denied that Nintendo started motion controls in gaming, but can Sony be blamed for being alone in the reemergence of motion controlled gaming in their own fashion during the PS2 era? To Nintendo fans its always Sonys fault. Perhaps they should've stayed the errand boy for Nintendo outside the gaming industry.

Secondly Microsoft did not create camera controlled motion gaming in their own image, the Eyetoy was doing everything except for multimedia scrolling before them with the Eyetoy. Microsoft knows how to sell their products because barely anyone knew about the Eyetoy.

The people saying the Wii U is already the global leader are wrong. Being the leader means being ahead of the competition. And the competition is any console that competes for consumers and 3rd party games. For the Wii U, its current competitors are the PS3 and 360. With that said, its not currently the global leader.

Generations are just used to describe consoles released around the same time. It's not some universal principle that limits competitors to consoles within the same generation. No, if a console is selling competitively, then its a competitor. As of now, the Wii U isn't leading over its competitors.

It has a shot next week. I expect good Japan sales and the rest of the European launch sales (only 2 days in this week's chart). NA sales are up in the air. However, I think next week will might be a bit of an improvement for PS3/360 sales, so I'm 65% sure Wii U won't be global leader until the holiday season dies down and supplies are a bit less constrained.
