Forums - Nintendo - Wii Mini lacks online because not everyone “needs” the option, says Nintendo

Gamecube compatibility isn't worth much in my opinion. Most of the best Gamecube games have superior Wii versions.

Zelda Wind Waker doesn't, and that alone is a very good reason to have gamecube compatibility

They should have also given an explanation as to why it looks like a cassette player from the 80's:

I wouldn't touch Wind Waker with a ten foot pole myself. The only 'Cube game I ever play on my Wii is F Zero GX.

This is aimed more at the Just Dance crowd. People who just have a Wii for social gatherings and never use online.

Plus there very few games with an active online multiplayer on Wii anyway. The biggest loss is Netflix and WW/VC.

What's that supposed to mean, huh!?

I think this should appeal more to PS360 gamers who would like to sample some Wii games. It's cheap, and think about the 'core' Wii games that use little or no online connectivity: Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, No More Heroes, etc. It's games like Mario Kart that you might want the online for. Even games like Smash Bros Brawl or The Last Story that have online components certainly don't require them for most of the experience.

Basically, if you want a taste of the Wii's great library, it's now cheaper than ever to try it out... in Canada, at least.

Apparently retro is back in. Look at the PS3 "LP record player".

Maybe they don't have the Internet in Canada?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

i honestly feel it should be cheaper. how much is a normal wii? if they had this at 69.99 or 79.99 or less that would be good.

I think this is a good deal for young kids who have never owned a console before, they dont need online and probably have never heard of a gamecube.
