The article at http://www.vooks.net/modules.php?module=article&id=11682 states that 5,840,000 units where sold in 5 months, just short of the projected 6 million, and then gives the PDF link - http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2007/070426.pdf

But I can't read this to confirm, and I'm hoping someone here knows japanese...
