Wii U will need bigger games than Bayonetta 2 and Pikmin 3 to counter PS360 in 2013.  

Wouldn't be surprised if Sony or Microsoft(Maybe both) cut prices next year. Nintendo will be in trouble if that happens.

Maybe its the architecture, when they start making new, next gen games with GPGPU in mind porting to wii U would be less troublesome. Also a number of devs (bethesda for one), still have that extremely stupid stigma that mature rated titles don't sell on nintendo's platforms. The only thing that will sway them is either success of another 3rd party title, like say GTAV (if it was ported to the system day and date), or if the wii U had a large enough install base so they think its worth the investment anyways. If it this stigma, then nintendo's best bet is to cover the cost and outsourcing of some of the big ports, otherwise it will just be a cycle of

Wii U owners- we don't buy your game because you never bring to wii U on time or in the case of the wii you just gif us poor quality spin offs.

I'd like to think developers aren't just extremely bias and its mainly just a case of the architecture being more appropriate for next gen ports vs current gen ports. But then when the architecture isn't a problem, the power difference will become one... Nintendo should have just made the wii U truly next gen system i terms of the power leap, sold it at $449 to all the Hardcore fans at launch then dropped it to $379 when sony and microsoft systems arrived. We wouldn't have all this uncertainty and I probably would have bought one by now.

So far Wii U is the most uninspiring console from the last 3 gens for me.

I would literally not give a damn if it wasn't for (3D!) Mario, Zelda and Metroid. Especially Metroid; A new Prime is worth buying the new console for. But overall, that's just about it.

I cancelled my pre-order and postponed my purchase, I'll wait what 2013 offers us. But the lack of these big multiplatform games really make it hard to justify buying one, especially since there are only 2 WiiU games next year on my radar: Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2, these are not enough.

Most of the world is in a (post-)recession. Consoles are (second line) luxury products - the first category to be hit in any economical difficulties. The mainstream consumer is very unlikely to  buy a console at 449.

They barely did in pre 2006/2007 when the good times were rolling by. It could take another 3/4 years before such economical time are reached again.

Nintendo is probably making the smart move by keeping cost low.

Well obviously WiiU's not going to get all the big 3rd party AAA stuff. Most likely it'll get almost none.
Probably a few big games here and there, but it's painfully obvious 3rd parties (mainly Western ones) just don't care a bit about Nintendo. At all. This new gen won't be substantially better in terms of 3rd party support for Nintendo than last, whatever Reggie and Iwata say.

Microsoft will cut the price, they will be clearing their stock. That will be a big problem for Wii U. Why would someone buy a wii u when you will get close enough performance and more games for less? Of course nintendo fans will buy wii u, but I don't see anyone else bothering with it.
