Forums - Nintendo - Black Ops 2 Bomba On Wii U

Nintendo was hoping that considering they were releasing a "better" console, the people who enjoys those games, would buy a WiiU in order to play the "best" version.

It is quite obvious that Nintendo payed Ubisoft, and Activision to have their flagship titles on the console. They were expecting those games to be the bait to buy the console, but nobody gave damn.

You got proof of this? Also it has been one week so I am expecting it to have steady growth, but not PS3.360 size..

As for Nintendo thinking these games would be bait, agreed. Only thing I don't know is how much they were expecting these titles to sell.

hardcore multiplatform games will always bomb on wii u

nintendo needs big EXCLUSIVE 3rd party games or everyone would rather just buy them on ps3 or 360.

I wouln't be surprised, Everyone rushed to buy Black Ops II on launch, And doub't they would buy it for Wii U
Which came out a week later.
And about the online comunity being Dead? That's Total BS, I log on BO's II everyday on Wii U and I have no problem finding a match, Party games like gun game ect are dead though.

I dont have proof, but it is the same thing happened when the 360 launched.  They paid activision (M$ "helped" them to bring the game to the 360) to get Guitar Hero, because it was a default PS2 exclusive, they payed to get Bully: Schollarship edition, they paid to get GTA for the 1st xbox, because those games were PS2 exclusives, and rockstars did not give a damn back then (nintendo did not paid and they got screwed till today).    Console developers have sometimes to pay in order to get 3rd party support.   Then after the console takes off, and if those games sell great, developers will just begin to release games for that console as an important part for their business strategy.

I know it would be weird to pay for developers to make games for your console, when it should be the other way around; but if the developers dont give damn because they earn more than enough from the other consoles and dont want to complicate the development process of certain game; the console company has to pay.

I knew when I saw the title that this was a Soundwave thread...

VGC has BO2 for WiiU at 90,000+ global (NA) for the first week; WiiU install base was 460,000+ global (NA) for the first week, giving BO2 a near 20% attach rate on WiiU.

We don't know how much it's dropped off yet in week two as that data isn't up yet, but unless the Chartz have it severely overtracked, it sold far more copies in its first week alone than the 21k you claim in the OP.

It's NPD data that Pacther said during the pre-show of the Spike Awards. Argue against it all you want, lol.

90,000 is massively overtracked, I have the game, go online with it, there's barely anyone online though it's getting a little better the last couple of days.

We have it, but also have several other games for the Wii U.  We have to divide our time between them and can't spend all of our time on COD BLOP2, so I'm sure there are a lot of others in the same boat.

Stop hating and start playing.

And that wont happen unless nintendo pays them A LOT, because those games would sell a lot more with PS3 + 360 + PC sales combined than on the WiiU.

Imagine, if the game is great, it could sell 2M or more on each console (not counting the wiiU) and 500K on PC.  Those are 4.5M x $60 = 270M.   Do you think nintendo will pay 270M to a developer to get an exclusive??? No chance in hell.

@Heavenly_king Why are you still posting if you have no proof? Sorry no one cares what you think.

Everyone arguing all this retarded stuff, and also the extremely dumb thing squilliam said about core games not selling on the Wii U (because CoD is a core game and ZombiU isn't?) just stop. Why did CoD not sell very well on the Wii U? Let's take a look at the fact that you have PS3, 360, and PC for this game. EACH one has an already established userbase MUCH larger than the Wii U's. The Wii U just launched, and most people who would have gotten CoD had gotten it by the time they could get the Wii U one. So these numbers are NOT horrible, they are expected given the situation.

That's the whole point. These type of games, will never be truly successful on the Wii U.

That's such an overstatement, I almost felt like not saying anything at all.  "never"?
"These type of games"?  What does that mean, really?  That's extremely vague and so overstated, I can't imagine how anyone will take what you just said seriously.

Are you talking about 3rd party games?  "Mass media" games?  FPS?  "Core" games like what the idiot Squilliam said?  (because what the heck is a core game anyway?) Multiplats?  The thing is that when the established userbase of the Wii U becomes big enough, it will have the potential to sell a lot more if people see the value in getting it over the other platforms.  This could easily happen.

I call them Mature games. Notice how the extremely violent and bloody Ninja Gaiden 3 is the lowest selling Wii U launch title. Yeah....that's not a coincedence.

My original comment may have been an exaggeration, games like Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed 3 CAN be successful. Just not on the level of a Sony or Microsoft console. Long Story short, Sony and Microsofts main audience is the core gamer.(~17-30 Male) while Nintendo's main audience is families.(Think: Super Mario, Just Dance, Mario Kart, Skylanders...etc)

# of call of duty players online at ~2pm EST for Wii U
