PS3 has been very slowly stealing market share from the 360 each week that goes on, now with the recent rumer of the ps3 to be priced at $299.99, I believe there is a chance that the ps3 will make 30% market share before year's end.

This is crucial in terms of the price, a $399.99 40gb console will not be the main choice for consumers, they would go to the one with the game and BC, a $399.99 80gb would sell much better than a 40gb at the same price point.

Now if sony did this

PS3 80gb- $399.99

PS3 40GB-$299.99

I beleive this may really increase sales to the point that it sells near as much as the wii during the same time period.

Why would they cut prices if they got so much killer software to drive hardware this year.

Consumers will go wii no matter what, even if the ps3 has every AAA title out now.

The reason is its price.

If that happens then MS will just react by dropping the same amount for their consoles. Factoring in that Sony is bleeding more per console sold, and MS has deeper pockets, this will be quite unsustainable for Sony.

Unless this scenario is set in the future when hardware prices are much cheaper, but by then, its a little bit late to retake much of the market share by then since the video game market would already be saturated.

If sony dropped the price, to what you said, IDK if it'd beat the Wii, but I'd be much more inclined to believe that by the end of the year, the PS3 would have at max thirty percent, but even if that happens, I'd probably stick with 26% as my year end percentage.

I like how ppl asume that only one console is going to have a price cut.

^^Unless PS3 dropped lower then the Wii, ppl will still buy the Wii cause of Wii Sports and company...

Wii could probably drop down to about 150 if need be.
