Forums - Sony Discussion - Ninja Gaiden coming to PS3 as well?

Yeah, Ninja Gaiden 2 is being published by Microsoft, but what about Ninja Gaiden 2: Sigma, or Ninja Gaiden 2: Pi, or Ninja Gaiden 2: "Insert Greek Letter Here!"?

This would be similar to what Capcom did with Nintendo when they released Street Fighter II: The SNES was the only console that saw Street Fighter II, but there was the Genesis with Street Fighter II: Chamipon Edition.

Team Ninja could work their way around this, and no, I am not implying that PS3 owners can expect another Ninja Gaiden, just trying to show nothing is inpossible as a few people like to make it seem.

I really think you're underestimating the intelligence of the Microsoft legal team. There is no way Team Ninja (or any other developer) will get out of a Microsoft contract.

In case you haven't noticed, MS has gotten away with everything short of killing a national leader - and then tea bagging the corpse - in broad daylight without more than a slap on the hand over the past 15 years.

And this wouldn't even be one of their more complex projects.

Games being published by first parties do not appear on competing systems in the generation in which they are developed. It's simply never happened.

While the actual wording of the contract may be complex, I'm sure the agreement is rather simple: we pay the money, you make the game for our system. The end. How and why would Microsoft allow for any other arrangement when they're shelling out millions of dollars?

There is always a loophole, and to be honest, it's not that the fact that the game is being published by Microsoft that leads me to believe that PS3 owners won't be seeing a sequel to Ninja Gaiden, rather what Itagaki's view on the PS3 is.

While not published by Nintendo, Capcom still found loopholes when they signed contracts with Nintendo, and there was nothing Nintendo could do.

And I think Ninja Gaiden will appear on the PS3... I completely forgot about Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos. Maybe they'll tune it up for both 360 and PS3 like Capcom is doing with Bionic Commando.

It's more than just a legal thing, Famine, it's an ethical one, as well.

There are "good faith" partnerships in this industry, and this is clearly one of those. It would be like Tools of Destruction getting remade for the 360. Technically and legally possible? Probably, somehow, some way. But that would burn Insomniac's bridges with Sony so badly -- a clear and direct betrayal of mutual interests -- that it wouldn't be a good move.

It just doesn't happen, or happens so rarely as to be a non-issue. I believe there may be one or two examples in history of first-party published games appearing on a competing console in the same generation.

Put more simply, I think some are focusing on the fact that this would be technically possible, which it probably is. It's also technically possible that Sony will discontinue the PS3 next month in favor of cheaper, streamlined BluRay standalones.

The more important issue isn't the technical possibility but the realistic likelihood -- technically possible, yes, but in the 0-1 percent range for chances.

Umm I can't see this as being legit. I mean it was confirmed as exclusive at the Tokyo Game Show and Microsoft has publishing rights for it.

No one has shot this down yet. You really gotta wonder. Its not like its not possible, Microsoft is publishing the game but doesnt own the IP. And I doubt loyalty has anything to do with it seeing the nature of MGS and the way they do business.

I didn't believe it at first, but now im not sure its a typo. 70% sure it is, but maybe Sony has started to pay off game studios?

Blech, they can keep it >_>; I'm still sorely dissapointed in my friend for buying Sigma -_-

Hopefully it stays 360 exclusive so that way MS doesn't have to deal with the BS of losing exclusives. Plus it'll help them out against Sony's 08 of established sellers.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Actually Bryan Intihar, EGM's previews editor, has shot down this rumor.

Microsoft bought the publishing rights to Ninja Gaiden 2 why in the world would Microsoft let Sony have the game? That would be stupid. Ninja Gaiden 2 will be Xbox 360 EXCLUSIVE!!!!!! Get over it, if you want to play the game you will have to buy a 360........

**Checks watch**

Hey, uhh, ManofTeal. You're a little late buddy...

But good effort to get your post count up I guess. Now go resurrect a post from the Wii launch days, and predict it will sell millions in 07!
