Seems like most supply issue is with the Premium package.
Anyway why Nintendo created the normal package???

How is this awful? The UK has 58million people and the thing sold 40k in 2 days. The USA has a population of 314 million and the WiiU sold 440k in 7 days.
And as you said Europe is Sony territory (for whataver reason)

I think it is aimed at casuals maybe. It has less memory in it and is more affordable so I guess it is aimed at people who want it but can't pay the extra on the spot.
One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

But nobody seems to buy the normal package... this package is a bad decision... even in US the supply issues is with the Premium one.

Now we can give it 10 weeks. That is how long it took vita to sell 100,000. Then we will be able to tell which is the bigger flop here since both are flops. |
Great idea. Lets compare March and February sales to December and January

Sales are in no way awful, but in fact the opposite. You are inaccurately comparing the UK to the larger American and Japanese markets, as well as Europe as a whole. The UK is not as larger as those markets even if it is the largest in Europe. Look last week's UK sales chart (see table below), 40K units is second on the list. Those are very good numbers for the UK, and as the OP said, demand outstripped supply and were only held back by supply limitations (typical of any console launch).

| PS3 | 34,181 | (+31%) | 5,312,614 |

I would say the premium is more popular but I wouln't say supply issues. I just checkd target and 13 out of the 20 nearest stores by me have them in stock. The furthest one is 40 miles though. But that is also just Target. The closest with stock is 6 miles.
Are they only referring to the premium bundle?
Amazon, for example, have the premium bundle as "In stock on December 4th", but the basic bundle as "In stock". Seems to me that one is sold out and the other is not.
Regardless, they should get manufacturing more of the premiums (or less of the basic), definitely seems to be what early adopters want.
I was at my local Saturn (a chain that sells consumer electronics) today and they are all out of 32GB/bundled WiiUs, so I guess that version did very well in Germany. Of the basic white WiiUs they still had 21 (yes, I counted) around - and ofcourse like 150+ of each other console.
Did he add the "this is essentially a sell out" part after or something?
Otherwise I can't explain the first 15-20 posts or so.
It's a shame that such a fascinating question as "What's with the weak supply of the Wii U everywhere" is being ignored because of silly partisian bickering.
It seems Nintendo shipped far less Wii U's then Wii, even though the opposite was supposed to be true.
Nintendo must of had a HUGE production hiccup somewhere.
Perhaps those Foxconn strikes and issues were at one of the Wii U production areas.
