I was playing through Skyrim and I really like how it reminds me of LOTR movies and GoT.  I feel like Peter Jackson could handle this as he seems very good at directing action sequences and introducing vast lores.  I would love to have him direct a movie based on Skyrim, as I believe it has the best story, but Oblivion and maybe even one of the earlier ones could also (I'm just not familiar with the stories of those).  From the Dragon language, to the Daedra, to the land of Tamriel I just think it'll take a lot of talent to compress this thing into 3 hours and if anyone can do it with complicated lore, it's Peter Jackson or whoever directs GoT (although they have a lot more time considering they have a whole season for a book).

So yay or nay to a Peter Jackson directed Elder Scrolls movie?

I cant picture an elder scrolls movie, everytime i try to just see that crappy dungeons and dragons movie. No, I wouldnt support it because Elder Scrolls wouldnt make a good movie and I would rather peter jackson do something more worthwhile.

but there's so much lore there that is so deep.  the empire has tombs of history about it in the games that would be open to interpretation and the story telling is very similar to LOTR movies the way ideas and places are introduced.  It just seems to fit his storytelling so well.  When I first walked up to Whiterun I immediately thought of the introduction to Edoras.  It was that same epic feeling and with all the different races in Skyrim and their interactions being much like those of the races in LOTR even that seems like an easy adaptation for someone who's done LOTR.  This game deserves to be on the big screen and it has the most going for a movie adaptation aside from maybe AC or COD (only because COD could just be a generic military shooter to follow suit with the games and sell on its brand name).

What you have to realize is that when Peter Jackson was making the LoTR trilogy he had like a $600 million budget. If he made an Elder Scrolls trilogy he'd be lucky to be working with a $200 million budget. That makes a massive difference in what kind of quality you end up with.

Dont confuse lots of lore with depth.  Most of the lore in these games is increbily shallow.  The stories and lore are very weak, which is why dungeons and dragons comes to mind when I think of Elder Scrolls.  Dont get me wrong, I think they are great games, but I dont see any merit at all in translating this franchise to movies. 

I would support a Uwe Boll directed Elder Scrolls movie, I simply don't care.

elder scrolls for me is more about the experience then the story, exploring the world choosing what quest I go on and choosing dialogue ect... I have no idea what's happening in skyrim other then there's dragons and I have to stop them. 

I have to disagree with you there.  From giving incredibly detailed background on each emperor and battle in the history of Cyrodil, to the different gods and races having complex histories and cultures each their own, to the different languages Elder Scrolls has the deepest storytelling of any game I've played.  MUCH deeper than Dungeons and Dragons.  They would need the writers and creators of Elder Scrolls to help tell the story, but if they were there to help I would be confident that this VERY DEEP world would come to life wonderfully with Jackson at the helm and a decent budget.  Take the millions of copies of Skyrim sold, multiply that by 8-10 (price of admission) and you've got your profit if it's a good adaptation.  The fanbase is there (as it is for a COD or AC movie) all that's left is to make a movie worth seeing for fans.  If it's good and directed by the LOTR director it will attract droves of people who've never played the game and the gamer's families.  HUGE profit potential here for these franchises.

Most of that information and lore is provided in 100 words or less, that is not deep.  Most of the races in the game act pretty much the same as others.  I challenge you to actually go through and read this deep history and then go read an actual fantasy novel and then decide if it is actually that deep.
