Which is crazy when you think about it, because Gears of War 2 is the highest seller in the series (6.58mill), and Uncharted 2 is now over 6 million (just 500K behind it, in fact). The two franchises got closer with the last release, and I don't believe Uncharted 2 was bundled to the degree that Uncharted 3 has been.

[blah blab blah ... More blah blah blah, etc, etc...
[...]  its called a super mass bundled game.

Nope. It's called the winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards

But, again, who in here said Uncharted 3 was more popular than Gears 3? If I get no repsonse, it means it is a BS claim and a means for some looking to start an issue out of nothing.

there was a thread about it being more populer and why the comparison, when its not even a fair comparison, obiovsly the whole thread is flaim bait.

Right, a different topic. However, I've yet to see that in here and people came in with hit-and-run posts such as "bundles. / thread" and the like. It exposes insecurities through-and-through and the main ones doing it are ironically the ones making the claims about popularity.

Here is the thing. When the select few from the Sony (OP from the now closed thread is one of them) side hijack every Halo 4, Gears of War, or Forza sales thread with their garbage about bundles and price drops it gets annoying. Especially when they turn around in a Sony thread and immediatly say it would have sold regardless of bundles and price drops.

This website has a HUGE problem with contradictions. So many things get thrown out the window when it fits a posters agenda. That is why I brought up the Halo 4 and GT 5 comparison. According to certain Sony posters Halo 4 had a huge bump in sales only because of a 40 dollar price tag it had for a few weeks. However GT 5 is at bargin bin prices yet those people would have bought the game regardless according to the Sony posters.

i will always say this the best way to judge how big a franshise is by looking at the first 2 months of sales, first its offical numers and we an idea how many people will buy the game day 1 meaning that franshise is very important to them.

No denials on the contradictions, from both sides, but just because it happens in one place doesn't mean it should become an accepted natural-order-of-things.

you dont get it sony fans were hating on forza and other game becuse of bundle but see no problem with uncharted bundle so open your eyes

So... because they did that in some random thread, at some point in time, you didn't like them doing it, so.. you come in here and do it in turn.

Hum... Now I see how all of this might stop, one day. But you certainly aren't part of the solution. Keep it going strong. This helps the community heaps!

then tell me what was his point in comparing sales.

I can't give you a 100% definitive answer, but I can speculate that it was to show Uncharted's growth (specifically in conjunction with Gears of War). Bundles cannot be ignored, no disputing that, but neither can the uptick this franchise has seen in sales, whether they exist or not.

The way I see it, Uncharted 3 wasn't expected to sell nearly as well as GoW 3. Based on the sales of prior games in each of the 2 franchises and the crazy pre-orders that GoW 3 had. So the fact that they got this close and since they share virtually the same game genre makes the comparison interesting.

Which is crazy when you think about it, because Gears of War 2 is the highest seller in the series (6.58mill), and Uncharted 2 is now over 6 million (just 500K behind it, in fact). The two franchises got closer with the last release, and I don't believe Uncharted 2 was bundled to the degree that Uncharted 3 has been.

uncharted 2 managed those sale sbecause it was super mass bundled, look at uncharted 2 first 2 months of sales with holidays included it probably managed  2.5 million in sales, what kind games sales that low its first 2 months with holiday's included and goes on to sell 6 million units, its called a super mass bundled game.

yet look  how many people were line up to buy uncharted 3 day 1, let me know when uncharted franshise break a million in its first month on npd, or chart track like the other big franshises.

Seems like roughly the same shift in sales happened between GoW 2 to GoW 3. ^^,

the fact is almost every single mass bundled game does over 5 million, you wanna judge how populer a franshise with out bias, look at its first 2 months of sales, especially if its released during the holidays.

No one said it had to be. If you want to talk about sales fine. However when you are going to compare sales from two companies and try to declare a winner you better get ready for people to bring certain things to the table that need to be taken into account. The thread wasn't just about Uncharted 3 sales. It was a Uncharted vs. Gears of War thread and once those threads start people are going to start bringing certain numbers up.

No. You want to judge how popular a franchise is without any bias, you take the numbers you know, and take them at face value. You don't try to make those numbers say whatever you want by spinning them with baseless assumptions.

And please, do revise your definition of the word fact.

But, from what I've heard, Uncharted: DF was "mass bundled". Still waiting on solid figures, by the way...

Uncharted: DF  was a huge bomb and managed 4.5 million units, look at its first month of sales its something of a joke, and the ps3 was selling horrible at that time other wise it would be at 6 million.
