Holy smokes!

$1,000 for the biggest space.

I was interested in getting one in the future...but I guess I'll get a ipad sometime in the future T.T.

Oh Common!. This is simply troll .

64 Gb iPad costs $700.

For the extra $300 you get $50 GB More storage, a full USB 3.0 port ( x box controller , music using pen drive , charge your phone) , and All legacy windows app ( Photoshop, Games ( Assassins creed, COD , Burnout , NFS .. many many more ) , chrome ( with all plugins like ad block) ..and a lot of other apps ) and true multitasking like in Win 7.

I believe you will spend $700 for the iPad and another $500 for a desktop ( if you go for windows) or probably around $1000 ( if you go for higher end windows desktop/laptop or if you go for lower end Mac laptops or iMac ( only Apple device that is great for its price)).

So total at least $1200 - $1700.

At $1000 Surface is the killer combination for both.

If you want to go for tablet just to consume content like iPad go to Surface RT . same priced tablet with still more features than iPad ( USB).

I thought they would be pricy. I am more interested in what the other hardware companies will be doing with windows 8. They will have better price points

Not sure if serious but...

What is a troll? My post or the price tag of the device?

My post was a serious post, I wanted a Surface which is why I dont have a iPad (even though my parents want me to get a iPad).

I would never buy a 64gb iPad for 700 dollars (that is crazy if I had that much money I would of had a PS3 since day 1 of its release), infact the 64 gb one is $529 not including tax of course. I still wouldnt get it probably the one that is smaller to that.

The mini at its smallest is $329 according to apple.com (of course this doesnt include the subscription service etc).

$1000 for a tablet...have fun with that while I enjoy my PC which is more than enough entertainment (along with my PS3 etc).

First thing you posted

$1000 for the biggest space.

this clearly showed you wanted the biggest possible space on the surface for the price.

So i can simply conclude you will go to iPad because it doesn'tcost $1000 for the biggest space.. that is common sense.

And Apple store has iPad 64 gb for $699. i found another article that has that in writing http://www.buzzle.com/articles/ipad-cost.html

if you are going for iPad mini you should have pointed out it first. The Surface Pro and Surface RT both are expected to compete with Apple products like iPad and Macbook . They have the premium price in the range of these devices.

iPad mini is Apple answer to the competition from Android and Surface isn't competing with Android in tablet space anytime soon.

Biggest possible space with the most efficient price for me is what I meant and yes a iPad mini is what I meant since it'll just be for casual usage nothing hardcore or anything.

If the Microsoft's Surface tablets become cheaper or provide more features in the future installations I will get it.

There is a reason why I waited so long before getting a iphone (which mine is a iphone 5) and why I still dont have a tablet of any kind. I'm not one of those people who buy an expensive piece of hardware every year.

keep an eye out for other windows 8 devices. HP, Lenovo, Acer, and the rest will all be making them and there will be good compition on prices.

Interesting pricing it seems like they are trying to price this near many of the ultrabooks. For example, if you include the keyboard attachment then the pricing on this is similar to the 11" MacBook Air. $999 64gb, $1099 128gb. The MBA has a bigger screen 11.6" although its lower resolution and isn't a tablet.

Compared to most other ultrabooks it does have a smaller 10.6" screen, as most are usually 13", iirc.

"Mini DisplayPort (can drive an external display up to 2560 x 1440 resolution)"

That seems strange that it's limited to 2560 x 1440 resolution. My 27" Dell u2711 is that resolution, but 30" monitors have a higher resolution at 2560 x 1600. Are those not supported?

For a full computer computer 64gb is kind of low especially with windows and other programs taking up a lot of space. For a tablet 64gb is plenty though, with 16/32gb variations also alright.

Battery life is half that of the Surface RT.

So, heavy, expensive, with poor battery life...

The only thing that seperates this device from Microsoft's pre-iPad tablet efforts is a tablet-optimized UI. This isn't going to move the needle in the tablet market.

I may still have to buy one for work as due diligence for my mobile computing strategy for the city but that's only because I wouldn't be paying for it. :D

OMG you're part of the shadowy cabal that buys government IT? Please get them to stop approving XP with IE6 running on massive overpriced HP towers.

LOL, how did you know?

Trust me, nothing like that would ever get approved by me.

Does anyone still believe Windows tablets are going to be huge?

Thought so.

These are ridicilous prices. This will flop even harder than I have predicted.

Totally agree... the cheap version is selling under expectation, and thye believe that a 1k$ tablet will do them any favor? This will ber a bigger flop than their entry into the phone market )

Yes, I do think all Windows tablets combined will be huge/big, otherwise all these different companies wouldn't be making them would they.
