I think it will have long legs. Its not a must have game like COD or AC3, so people aren't queing out day one to purchase it. Most people have spent big money this past 2 months on games and are probably busy playing other things right now, or just unwilling to fork out another $50. I can speak on behalf of my self when I say I had a blast playing the beta but don't feel the need to run out and get it straight away, I'll by christmas though. Because of its offline multiplayer nature, hopefully it will grow in popularity through word of mouth and people playing it at their friends house.

Perhaps you didn't read the title. It says "talk about it." What do you expect. The thread's intended purpose was for people to discuss 1.) if the game has/will flopped, and 2.) why the game has flipped if it did. I think you entered this thread already convinced that Sony fans were up to no good, which is strange to be honest.

100k+ ww isn't a flop to me, not to mention i didn't expect much, but 100k is fare enough. 300-500k by yr's end.

Smash bros was also the only one of its class (sort of). I also fail to see how a 2012 game modeled similarly to a 1999 game (I'm basing the "ripoff" status from the original Super Smash bros) is a rip off. Sony could have rip them off a long as time ago, back when they had Crash and Spyro and when characters like Cloud, Sephiroth, and Leon would have made sense to be included in the game since PS1 became Final fantasy's flag ship console.

Hmmmmmmm... So Sony released a derivative fighting game with a poor roster and a lack of polish and its sales are poor. Whodathunk.

The game might reach 1.5 M. Maybe 2M if you want to count bundles. Ok for the average game. For a game that features all of Sony's biggest franchises, and was their big release for the holiday... kind of sad.

Edit:  What's with this new IP rationalization?  Calling this a new IP is maybe technically correct, but willfully dishonest.  When a game launches with 20 supposedly well known characters that should negate a huge portion of the trepidation most new IPs face.  This isn't some risky obscure new title...

Flop? Who expected this to sell anymore than 200k first week. I was predicting around 100k first week so its passed my expectations. Either way I reckon it will reach over 1 million I've seen it bundled here so I assume it's bundled else where around the world.
