Everyone seems to be coming around to the idea that it should be cheaper. I think myself and Rol said before the launch that it was DOA at that price. It simply could not be a hit at such a high price.

They might still save it if they take a cold shower on the price, the question is do they think its worth it and can they afford to? I say can they afford not to?

The vita was probably more than likely a hit in the U.S this black friday.. as it's sold out almost everywhere(the COD/AC bundles)..... but, I do agree.. they need to cut the vita's price to $199 or less.. and I do believe they can afford it.. my opinion on the matter is that sony is making a tremendous profit per vita sold.. and are trying to keep the system highly priced in other to bring in profit into the company.. vita.. vita accessories.. ps3 software.. and ps3 accessories along with maybe their smartphone line up is what is probably keeping the ENTIRE company afloat.. as it's likely all of those things are bringing in a lot of profit in comparison to anything else that they sell..

I'm not sure if they earn money on a Vita they sell, but Vita gamers tend to buy games and accessories, so all in all the Vita business may be profitable day-to-day (not including the development costs obviously). Still I don't think that it's a big margin. Sony probably doesn't want to cut the price, cause they assume this won't cause the sales to suddenly erupt, so why waste money? If you're in such a bad financial situation as Sony, t's better to be making money selling less consoles, than losing money selling a bit more. That's how Nintendo survived the Gamecube era. It sold ridiculously bad, but was profitable non the less.

Sony wants to wait with the price cut until:

1) all people willing to pay the current price do so

2) the cost of the console drops (the cost of parts has to be lower now after a year since the debut, it will be even lower in 6 months, when E3 comes...)

3) until they release the second wave of good games and mayby finally get a System Seller (Soul Sacrifice hopefully?)

That would be the best possible moment for them. They have two priorities at the moment. It's not just getting as many Vitas out there as possible, but also to lose as little money as possible while doing it. They have to carefully calculate how much of a benefit will the cut give and do it at the right moment. I already bought mine, so I don't care about the price cut anymore, though I'd love it if they cut the price of the memory cards and released 64 and 128 GB versions.

At the moment Sony just hopes that X-mas time and the recent games (P4G, ACIII:L, CoD:D) will help them move a decent number of consoles and improve the general trend from just 40.000 consoles per week to something more respectable... This console has a lot of potential and they should focus on this, on getting exclusive games from 3rd parties and from their own studios before they cut the price.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

I know Sony is not doing well right now, but WHY THE HELL people need to make 345999 articles about it?

We already know, so they need to stop writing the "Sony is dying" articles, and let them do their job. Journalists need to stop spreading doom and fear.

Journalists report news.

Reports dont make things worse, if Sony turn it round then there will be plenty of "Sony is back" articles.  I doubt you will complain if we are awash with those.

What they have written is already known so there is no need to continue saying it.  Bad news are bad news; the more you spread them the more damage they will do. So I dont think they need to continue writing countless of articles, about the bad situation of Sony because they affect negatively the company.  I know that the bad measures taken by Sony itself are already hurting them, and are the one responsable of how they are now, but there is no need to pointing at them, every day, and say thinks like "they are dying", "you are dying", "treat it like cancer"; because that obviously hurts them too.

When Sony turns the tides, it would be nice that the journalists take the same ammount of time and dedication to spread the good news over and over again. :)

Wouldn't you know it, this is how FUD usually works. The difference here is that FACTS are being reported, and people can't abide the facts or the messenger, so the latter becomes the target of frustration.

No, facts are not being reported. Article is full of bullshit.

The real facts were already reported, weeks ago. This article is pure trolling. What does "dying ugly" even mean?

dying ugly probably means dying with a lack of grace.  I guess you're really a kid to not know that some people die gracefully than others. While others die width so much pain and misery that makes a person want to alleviate their pain.  Which is probably what the author is stating, which is to end Vita's atrocious sale by dropping the portable...which maybe a good thing if you're a Sony stock holder at the moment.

Well I'm 20. You're 33. I guess you get the right to call me a kid, old geezer :D

Should Sony really cut the price though? I don't think they will ever be competitive with the 3DS, even at a lower price. So might as well keep the price as it is, and add value through stuff like Playstation Plus, bundles and stuff like that. Vita will be 2nd place this gen again, might as well be profitable as well.

I highly doubt they are making a profit, definitley not a "hefty"one per Vita...

Take a look at the financial reports. What keeps Sony barely afloat are the insurance and bank business.

It's tiresome to see again and again the same bullshit spread in this forum, the most profitable segment in Sony by a mile is the only one that has nothing to do with electronics.

Sony better do something for the vita in Japan.price drop..i wanna get one

Don't die before I get soul sacrifice!

Here is another "Vita is doomed" thread...where are the mods?

Your arguments are invalid.. You argued with the fact that the legend of heroes is quite popular and haven't sold that well,.. For your info, it's a cheap port of a PSP version that came out a year ago.. Plus if you want to do a fair comparison, look at Hatsune Miku's sales 160K and vita above 50k.. You're just trolling, to be honest.

I vote this AOTY... Article of the Year!
