Tagged games:

@Roar - thanks for that heads-up. Good to know it's optional.

@Kitler - Now that you mention it, you're right, there's nothing being done on the gamepad that couldn't easily (and probably more fun) be done with pointer controls. Not in the demo anyway. Not sure if it could be done with Kinect but certainly Smartglass. And I also didn't see the fun in playing as Murfy.

Hopefully Rayman Legends gets ported to other consoles later on (even Wii).

Did you play the level where you had to run and platform to Black Betty? That was cool.

so i had to look and your sources source was  a tweet that said "yes" to a fan question.

but here i have a quote from Emile Morellead game designer.

This question has finally been answered… sort of. In a developer demo with Nintendo World Report, the game’s lead game designer Emile Morel is asked: “Can you play this game alone with just the GamePad, having the computer control the extra features?”

“Yes you can,” replied Morel. “You play controlling Murphy with the GamePad and on the screen of the TV (and also on the screen of the GamePad) you have an automatic Rayman controlled by an AI. Basically you have to open the paths for him, you have to kill enemies for him, to make sure he survives, so you’re basically the protector of Rayman.”

Hang on a minute. Given the choice we’d rather play as Rayman than play as his poxy helper. It’s called Rayman Legends, not Murphy Saves The Day. Emile continued: “In these levels you can’t play as Rayman, you have to play as Murphy. But the whole game is not like this. You have specific levels for Murphy and the GamePad and also more classic levels when you are playing as Rayman from beginning to end. I would say half of the game… maybe not half of the game but a good portion of the game, you will have to play as Murphy.”

I got a chance to play the rayman demo at best buy today and it sucked balls.

Firstly -- this game could 100% be ported to wii/ps3 (if move exclusive) in addition to 3DS or vita.  maybe even kinect, not sure how good pointer control works there.  the second screen was completly unneeded as the core gameplay mechanic of "murray" is implemented identically to LBP pre-historic moves expect rayman used touch instead of pointer controlls but the interactions were exactly the same.

LBP prehistoric moves

Which brings me to the important part of why rayman sucks balls (as did LBP prehistoric moves).  playing as murray sucked balls.  rayman is suppose to be a platformer.  when i started playing i was playing as rayman and the game was starting out pretty good.  about 1 minute in they forced me to play as murray instead of rayman (rayman was operated by the game).  if you want to know what playing as murray is like ... buy a terrible iphone game like bubble pop.  all you do is touch the active part of the screen either poping bubles or cutting ropes or shifting platforms ....NOT what i want a rayman game for.

add to that the game keeps shifting from screen to gamepad and back.  it didn't feel natural at all .. all i got was on screen cues of stop looking here, now stop looking here.  it didn't add to the gameplay at all, it just frustrated me and slowed down the game.  in a lot of ways the shift from screen to screen felt like a quick time event.  by that i mean i felt like the game was playing me more than i was playing the game.  it kept taking control away from me and forces me to play the game exactly how it wanted it to be played.  all i had to to was tap, swipe right, swipe up, tap, look up, tilt, look down, rub, then swipe down.   it was exactly like a quick time event actually.

...now maybe this game would be more fun multiplayer.  i dunno, i can tell you i would never want to play as murray ever but if i could get someone else to so i could just play rayman i'd probably like it.  rayman was the one game i was really interested in for wiiU as rayman orgins was fantastic.  i'm soo disappointed in how legends played in single player.  absolutly aweful.

Fun game with more than me person.

i doubt it will get ported.  they seems pretty adament that it won't.  but as i played it the simularity to LBP PhM was obvious to me, it could certainly be ported if they want to.

I didn't play past the murray level, i was just too annoyed and dissapointed.  but like i said, when i was actually playing as rayman it was really good, just like i wanted it to be.

anyhoo, looks like i'm going to see lincon.  later for now guys.

I don't think that's how it works in the full version, but I don't own a U nor the game, so I don't know.

lol so you can't play approx. one third of the game as Rayman ?

Doing a quick count in Origins you played the Mosquito in about 15% of all levels.

F--K.    The entire Murfy gimmick seems like a bad idea to me.   You should be able to complete the entire level with just Rayman but it's easier if you have someone playing as Murfy (this way it can be a difficult platformer but adults could assist kids/spouses with murfy making it more accessible).   Alternatively, murfy should have lives and challenges to avoid making it more challenging and fun to play as him.   From what I've played being murfy all the time would get boring fast.

Not fun for more than one.   Just fun for one when you have an assist.

Well, that really sucks! Weird since Origin was a really good game... But That's a forced gimmick if I ever saw one!!

i'm going to avoid that world as it is a dirty word here ... but sort of yes.  they seems more concerned about making use of features and using features to create fun.

Well, that just plain sucks!!!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
