When did Nintendo ever promise you guys anything more than PS3/360 level visuals?

Mr. Miyamoto said like a year+ ago that the Wii U probably wouldn't be much more powerful than the PS3/360, but some people just built it into their head that the system had to be something to keep pace with the PS4/720.

That's simply not the system Nintendo designed or even wanted to make here.

Yes.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial.

Damnit im in denial :/

Tech wise (and that's what you asked) I think it's in limbo between current-gen HD twins and NexTwins (probably little bit more toward current-gen). Will it be Dreamcast 2? I don't think so, Nintendo has more than enough 1st party titles to make it successful, and I'm sure there will be decent 3rd party multiplatform support for at least first 1-2 years.
Once NexTwins hit the market, we'll see by how much they are more powerful than PS360, and if they turn out to be 8-10 times as powerful, I can see developers completely dropping support for PS360, so usual process of making WiiU port might get a lot more complicated for them.
That off course does not mean it will be completely impossible, just whether or not they'll be willing to do it, and that I think depends mostly of how well multiplats will be accepted from WiiU install base in those first 1-2 years.

They said it themselves that the gap between the next Playstation/Xbox consoles wouldn't be much more than the Wii U.  I guess it was sort of implied.  Plus Miyamoto is old as fuck, now.  We don't pay attention to him anymore.

In your mind you are overestimating what the next gen will be.

Look at Star wars 1313 PC footage. Thats what next-gen is. I'm pretty sure the Wii U can handle it, even if in a lesser degree.

Reasons why:
1. Graphics are reaching the maximum detail that can be perceived by the human eye and brain.
2. Theres a global crisis, buying power has declined, consumers are not willing to pay as much for gaming systems (high-end parts are expensive).
3. In an atempt to gather more sales, companies are tapping into a more casual gamer with devices as kinect, move, Wii gamepad, etc. These will come bundled to ensure the user base has great acess to them and stimulate development with them in mind. This raises the cost of the overall product.
4. Development costs would skyrocket with very powerful machines. The games would be few and alot more expensive than current ones. This is not good for the market because of 2.

For these reasons, next gen wont be the kind of leap we have grown used to, and i still believe Nintendo made a genius decision and has jumped ahead of the competition. We will know for sure when we see the new games for the Xbox720/PS4 and the Wii U.

People have been saying that for literally over a hundred years and time after time they are proven wrong. It will still be decades before even CGI can pixel for pixel replicate the real world.

You just read whatever you wanted on that didnt you? Theres 4 points, not 1. They all work in conjunction.

Its a fact and you cant deny that is the case with every passing gen, that the leap will be increasingly smaller because the noticeable different will be smaller, besides the fact that development costs would skyrocket otherwise and you would be charged 100 dollars/euros per game. Even in your post, notice how you compare to when graphics will be equal to the real world. That is not the issue, the issue is that the difference between gens is increasingly smaller cause we get closer to that threshhold.

Actually, if you look at the FFversus13 trailer when Noctis is in the car and they go past the toll station, dont tell me that doesnt look real. Its amazing. I have often wondered if they were using real life footage for it, but then those black pillars come from underneath revealing the thing as CG.

I can second this as I read it myself before. He also said the gap wouldn't be as big as between wii and 360/ps3,

We were wrong, then. Could we be wrong, now?
