They won't let you do that unless you're playing SD (480p).

Did you have a black bar on the left side? The problem I'm having looks more like its overscanning in all directions. I was just going to live with it, it didn't occur to me that it might be a faulty system. |
Looks like we're not the only ones having this problem according to this GAF thread.
Here I am thinking my hardware was defective and it's more common than I originally thought. Hopefully we'll get a patch to clear this up soon.

In the settings menu in the main menu. The wrentch looking icon. I think the third screen is the display menu, and its the third or forth opition down.

That was EXACTLY my issue. Got a new Wii and dumped $50 into the old one's eShop just to have the same problem on the new one. I thought my system was defective!
Nintendo needs to fix this, it bothers me. I want the screen to be centered perfectly and my TV doesn't give me to option to center the screen or give me any scanning options besides 16:9 and 4:3.
Its strange you can adjust the screen size in both Mii Verse and Internet. Why not a universal? eshop is waaay to zoomed in
You can adjust resolution and centering.
Its in the settings. I played around with it. I don't remember where though and I'm at work. I will find late tonight after monday night football.

Even in the eShop and browser for me, I can adjust but it's still centered too far to the right.

Would love to know where you found that because I've been all up and through the menus and I've found no such thing. I really need to center this display.
