We totally need a new Grandia though. Such a shame... it still has the best combat system of any RPG i have played. Heck i even finished Grandia Xtreme because i just love the combat system. Grandia 3 had an average plot, but the awesome combat system was there and the graphics were nice.

WTB more Grandia (IV). :(

Same here. I love Grandia and Grandia II, probably some of my favourite games of all time (Grandia even enters my Top 50 list), but if it weren't for the superb battle system that the series has, I wouldn't touch neither Grandia III and Xtreme. It's a shame that they blew the series (plot and story wise).

If they ever do a new Grandia, I hope that it follows the footsteps of the first two.

100% agree.  Glad to see I am not alone from Saturn/PSone and Dreamcast/PStwo days of this series being the pinnacle of battles.

What's sad is that Grandia III promised a lot on the first disc, it almost made my hopes go up after the butchering that was Xtreme, but then came the second disk and it just went downhill again.

Grandia...some of the best "One Liners" of any RPG I have ever played.  Going from super Upbeat Justin to Dark and Brooding Ryudo (I actually enjoyed Xtreme for the type of game it was...but did not need to be called Grandia), just good stuff.

Some of the things Ryudo would say in G2 were just amazing...oh fuck it.  Going to play it again.

Personally, I'd like to see a new Vagrant Story, Chrono Trigger and Grandia.

A new Baldurs Gate (I know they're remaking), Vampire: Bloodlines and something revisiting Planescape Torment would also be nice.

Ryudo is pretty damn amazing. His exchanges early in the game with Elena crack me up everytime I replay the game.

Elena - "Are you making fun of me?"
Ryudo - "No, I've been making fun of you for the past half-hour princess. Aren't we a little slow to notice?"

Or one of my personal favourites: "Are you waiting for me to give a damn?" XD.

You, Sir, have excellent taste. :)

I feel all of us that enjoyed those games will have a great treat with Project Eternity, and I hope with World of Darkness.

Millenia with the "Deep Fried Goodness!"

Or The kids being all scared of Elena and her talking with Ryudo about it:

Elena: Ryudo... If that girl were indeed Aira, I would like to speak with her again... Ryudo: Huh? Elena: I keep thinking about what she said... Ryudo: "Don't eat me?" Well, you HAVE been putting on a few pounds. You have to see it from her point of view. Roan: Oh, stop. She was an odd little girl... And I wonder... was that garden real?

I love that one regarding to Aira, and Millenia dialogues are always great XD.

Another great character, who often gets overlook on Gradia II, is Tio. When Mareg dies on Valmar's Moon, when she says:
I think I know now what a "heart" is... But... it is a thing filled with sorrow. I would rather have never learned of it. Mareg... twice now you have showed me what it means to have a heart...

That was a pretty heartwrenching moment. Grandia II had some pretty great dialogue overall.

I would love to see a full remake of the Xeno series from Episode I to VI.

So what's the verdict should I go hunt down a copy of Grandia 3?

If I had to rate the series

Grandia - 9/10 (Can get it on PSN as well now, worth it)

Grandia II - 10/10 (I truly mean this, one of my all time top ten games)

Grandia XTreme - 7/10 (This is the one you can pass on, battle system carried me in this)

Grandia III - 8/10 (Very good title, not quite the class of I and II, but still absolutely worth playing)

I was fine with it, the end was bit...meh, but honestly they could crank out run of the mill with the battle system (especially II's) and I'd still dump 40-50 hours easy into what ever I got at this point.

Honestly, many series could just put out another entry and I'd eat it up because of how this whole generation has unfolded.
