Why did they put Big Daddy on cover? By default only PS charactes should be there.
If only a few characters are on the cover it should be the most important, The Exclusives then big names

Jak
Sly
Sackboy
Spike
Parappa
Kratos
Drake
Radec
Nariko etc clashing and show people like Big Daddy, Raiden, Dante in the back in stances, to show they are special guests

You forget what the main inspiration behind every aspect of this game's design was.
The box art design team was handed this picture and told to replicate it. They were not permitted to stray from the source concept: a handful of the game's characters posing around the title with a streaks-of-light background.

Both box arts are amateurish, I've seen fan-made box arts that look better. And Kratos definitely should be the centre character, he's Sony's most popular, recognisable, beloved and iconic character by miles.
Also Kratos has been in more non-GoW games than the amount of proper GoW games out now (5, mobile game doesn't count). He's made a cameo appearance in Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, Hot Shots Golf, LittleBigPlanet, Modnation Racers, Playstation All Stars and has been parodied in The Simpsons game and an actual episode of The Simpsons AND his weapons were featured in Heavenly Sword and Twisted Metal. When another Sony character has been parodied or cameod in as many franchises as that, belongs to a 22 million + selling franchise and isn't generic and forgettable then maybe they'd deserve to be the centre character, right now only Kratos should be.

Well I was kidding about them being handed the picture and told to replicate it, but there are definitely enough similarities between the Brawl and PSASBR box arts that I'm willing to bet the Brawl one was used as inspiration.
