So I got the game on PSN Plus because its can only be purchased exclusively that way, but I must say I liked it. It shouldn't have been a prequel. It filled in the gaps as to why Kratos has an unexplainable discontent over his new position as the God of War and the reason why the gods would be forced to overthrow him in part 2. It makes you feel bad for both the gods and him at the same time. Without this game it made him seem like he only had blind rage and awakened you to a human side of Kratos which would never be seen again.

I think I own both games, but have not yet played either Chains of Olympus nor Ghost of Sparta. Your description of Ghost of Sparta makes me want to bother a little but I am far more interested in GoW Ascension.
