Most stores don't make much profit on video game hardware. They sell those because they get repeat customers who come and buy video game software which higher profit margins.

It's very simple. The X360 is America centered. In America, all machines sold better on Black Friday than in the christmas week. Everywhere else, they sell more for christmas. That counts for the 360 as well.
