Forums - Gaming - Did you ever give up on a game because it was too hard?

The last boss in Heavenly Sword is fucking ridiculous. I took that bitch back because i couldnt beat that boss for shit. I just looked up a video on youtube of somebody beating that bastard

I forgot about Heavenly sword. I took a break from the final boss, which was 5 years ago now.
Taking a break is usually game over, when you come back you have no clue what does what anymore.

I guess I can add Lair too. I managed to overcome the controls but the later levels were not fun with all the time limits and different objectives at the same time, then start from scratch again.

And GTA games qualify too, since I always end up finishing them with cheats. The crap/missing checkpoints and horrible on foot camera and aiming controls make those games too frustrating in the end. Will GTA5 finally fix that...

Super Mario Bros. I never beat it.

edit: Actually I have, just not without using some form of "save state"

Read Dead Redemption - That game is hard to hold my attention and I tried to play it 3 times before I just said screw it and traded it in.

IWTBTG:G- This game just wants you to fail and boy did I.

I was around 7 or 8 years old when I got this game.  It was just too damn hard for me.  At that age, I don't think it was even a fair fight.  I don't think I ever made it past the second level, and I rarely could even make it past the first level.

It is the first and only game I ever traded.

I never got pass the shipwreck level. I think that's the second level.

Perfect Dark Zero - It is such a bad game, that whatever skills you have to learn to complete this game is worthless. So in a sense I did gave it up because of its difficulty, at least if the story had progressed after a while and I wasn't stuck I wouldn't have gave it up.

I did complete the final boss in star ocean : Last Hope though. Ridiculous boss which took a ridiculous time to kill, you need to use that healer girl well. There are some other strategies but I forgot.

Any game where I find an extremely difficult level, I just move on to another game for a while and come back to it after some time, usually completing it. Some good examples of that - folklore, uncharted DF, Demon's Souls, and a bunch of others I am forgetting.

Yeah unfortunately I didn't train Sarah (the winged healer girl) on that playthrough as my healer, but rather used Myuria. That screwed me over big time since I realised later on that Myuria was more of a general spellcaster as opposed to a healer.

1 time, ME3 on insanity

Bayonetta. I think im up to chapter 7 or 8. I just got the panther ability and i cant get past the fight where you have to fight the claw guys ( one is blue and red). Also Devil May Cry 3, that really tested my patient.

Bet with ninjablade:

Ninjablade wins if the next 5 multiplat on the wii u are inferior to the 360 version.

I win if one of the 5 mulitplats are on par or superior on the Wii U.

Yeah rarely there will be a game that is too difficult for me to finish. Lost Oddessey was that way for me. I just got stuck on a Boss and couldnt bring my self to go back and grind in order to beat it. So i quit.

Im noticing a reoccurring theme here. JRPGs seem to be the genre that creates this type of situation.

However more often than getting stuck because a game is hard oftentimes I find myself getting lost in a game and after trying forever to find out where to go I just get so frustrated that I give up. That feeling really pisses me off.

Long Live SHIO!

Killzone 2 on elite mode :/ I thought I was gunna breeze through it....Didn't even finish the first stage lol
