Forums - Nintendo - SSBB sold out already?

The Japanese version of Amazon has been "sold out" for weeks now. I mentioned it in the Brawl thread. In reality though, it means next to nothing. Amazon is such a small store in the retail pie.

Or that Amazon has no idea how many copies they are getting and dont want to oversell.  It really means nothing.  Amazon could have a default 300 preorders they give to every game regardless of hype.  When they find out how many they are allocated, then they change it.  Considering the game has just been delayed most likely because they couldnt print enough copies, Amazon has no idea how many copies they are getting.  Once again, means nothing.  At least to me.  Is it sold out anywhere else?  If so, it might mean something.  Come on guys.  One isolated case is not enough to draw conclusions.  Take a stat class.

I'm always the same with these kinds of things.

I will walk into the store on launch day, ask for my copy, and walk out (after paying, of course).

I never understood why people preorder. There is ALWAYS enough software stock. There has yet to be one time where I have not been able to acquire a copy of what I wanted on release day.

Pre-ordering doesn't hurt. It's not as if you pay anything extra. Most places ask you to put down $5, and that goes towards the cost of the game.  Sometimes there's also good pre-order gifts too.  My Brawl copy was pre-ordered in August, as part of a special promotion - Trade in 3 older games, and get Brawl free........I'm certainly not complaining.

I think they have that promotion running all the time... they just don't advertise it.

Would you happen to know if it has any limits? Like, can it be ANY three games? Does it matter from what console? Is it only for certain days?

Heh, sorry for the barrage of questions. It's just that I've been thinking of doing it myself.

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

i did that myself at ebgames earlier this year for sonic and the secret rings. each game has to have a trade in

value of 8 dollars. so you have to call the store and see how much the trade in value of all your games is. each

game has to have the manual and the game has to be for the gamecube, xbox, ps2, ps3, wii or 360.

Yeah, usually they have it running throughout the year, adding games once in a while. Sometimes they allow you to trade for a game that's been out a week or so, but all stores don't. You can usually go in and trade in any 3 games, on any current or last gen console and current gen handheld. Some places even accept GBA games, so keep a look out for that. As stated above, the minimum trade in value has to be $8. You can call and check prices with EB, but usually they want you to come into the store with the games. And depending on the place/person, you don't need to have the manual.

If you google cheapassgamer, in the Canadian forum, there's a wiki page that has a lot of trade in values, that people update, so you could look that up.

I wished it's half a million allocation that was preordered at Amazon.... Hehehe! Then this game can set a record for its first week in USA.

Wii Code: 4819-7684-2396-4558

Thank you both very much.

I'm pretty sure I have a few expendable games that SHOULD be worth over 8 dollars. Well, I'll know for sure once I check out that wiki page.

Thanks again.
