Not at all. One has to remember is that Supes is the forerunner, the Mario of the superhero world (although Mario wasn't the first of his kind of course, and neither quite entirely was Superman, but he so defined the standard that all conventional superherodom can claim to stem from him, and he is still the first in recognizability, much like Mario or Mickey Mouse)
The problem is that Superman has never quite managed to shake off his Silver Age image, not of being a perfect boy scout (because he's almost always been that way, barring Superman At World's End, one of the few superheroes to resist the "make everything dark and edgy" craze kicked off by everyone trying to rip off Watchmen), but of Silver Age Superman's tendency to pull powers out of his ass at any opportunity (for a while he could willingly travel through time just by flying). Superman now is better-defined, but remains no less Super, and he too can pull off a good story, of the burdens of power and what he can and cannot do for the world with his powers.
I tend to dislike what Wolverine has become. The original point of Wolverine was that he was short, ugly, and just plain unpleasant to be around. He was a badass, sure, but you had to take that in with his other qualities. The problem is someone like Wolverine fit the "Dark Age" of comics very well, which raised his profile until he basically gets all top billing now (and being played by Hugh Jackman certainly threw off his origins as a short, ugly, unpleasant dude)

Batman and most superheroes are cool because they fight evildoers and corruption. However, they lack the power to fundamentally change the system that creates these villains. Superman, if he felt like it, could kill most of the villains out there and remake a world in his image. But he doesn't because he has to allow humanity a chance to clean its own act. And that's the ultimate source of a lot conflict in Superman. "How do I help people without depriving them of growth or becoming a dictator or something." It's not just about beating up a bad guy. It's about struggling to be everything people need without being overbearing. Something else I like about Superman. He usually holds back. If Superman really wanted to beat a bad guy, he could just drop the moon on them or something. But it's not about that; it's about protecting people. So he's always trying to find a balance between using enough force to stop enemies without causing any harm to bystanders. I guess my point is, Superman has to be judged differently from other superheroes, because even though he's the most iconic, he has very different struggles and conflicts. Ultimately, his greatest enemies are rarely evildoers (although when they are, the results are epic). It's about a great man's struggle to deserve everything he's been blessed with. |
I'm going to repost this because we Supes fans need to stick together
When there's going to be a huge tsunami and all the sea creatures attack, Aqua Man won't help, because you called him a loser all this time.

Why do so many people not like Superman!? Nolan will make him awesome again in "The Man of Steel"!!!!!
Spider-man. I liked Spidey when I was younger, but I think I've grown out of the series.

Out of that poll
Robin and Green lantern easy
Ive always thought Captain Americas story was great, a supersoldier created through an experiment in WW2
Superman is cool also, just overrated
Women are useless?
DC maybe, but Marvel has a lot of very powe4rful female characters
