Never. It costs money for a company to process credit card transactions, so they usually have a minimum transaction for credit card purchases. It used to be against the rules of Visa and Mastercard to do so, even though a lot of merchants did it anyway, but under Dodd-Frank retailers can now require a $10 minimum.

So be thankful it's just $5, ya whiner!

I forgot about this thread.

Why not just add the process as a kinda tax charge then to cover it? could they do that?

I don't know about now, the laws have changed since I worked retail, but it used to be against the law to charge the customer extra for using a credit/debit card.  They had to be charged the same--which meant, of course, that the increase in overhead had to be distributed so that people who used cash were really paying more than they otherwise would.  Businesses have always been looking for methods to get around this, though some were deemed unlawful.  "Discounts" for using cash, for example, which is really just marking up prices then giving back the cash user the difference as a discount.  The main one many stores have pushed is convincing the customer to use their own branded store cards.

Well I walk into my small chain taco and sandwhich shop and they have 50 cent charge fee. Your saying thats illegal?

As I said, I don't know if it still is or not, and it might even depend on state, but where I live it used to be.  Not that many small shops didn't do what they needed to do anyway.  Tons of local stores used to have minimum purchase restrictions, for example, even when they weren't supposed to.  They just had to take the risk, otherwise they would eat loss after loss.  Credit card transaction fees are the bane of small businesses, especially those that depend on a large volume of small transactions.

"in there"???

Cmon man, I'm not a native English speaker and the first thing I learned was the difference between there/their/they're

To much thought, but in context still understandable.

Too!  I just had to do it...

OT: I don't mind the minimum $5 since I usually spend my money.  However, I believe I am sitting on 100 Wii points and the only way to get rid of it is to add 20 more and then get 2 SNES/Genesis games and a NES game.  So I understand where you are coming from.

What was actually stopping me buying anything was the fact I only had interest in SNES onwards games and for a few years only had a Gamecube controller to use for them, and the lead on that thing is stupidly short.

Nintendo introduced the WiiWare service which offers original games that use the Wii controllers...

Hydroventure is such a game. You only use the Wiimote to control water in three forms (water, ice, cloud). The game uses mainly tilt controls (so the kind of motion control that is most responsive, therefore nothing to worry about) and requires shaking the controller to turn a cloud into water again or a quick upward motion to make your water puddle or ice block "jump" (so no real issue with motion control here either). Other special abilities are executed through button commands (d-pad, 1, 2).

Looks possibly ok, but I got a load of physics based puzzle games and not played them all, don't really need another for now.  Any decent RPGs on WiiWare?

Only 2 total

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years 7/10 WiiWare Square Enix 4 RPG 05 Jun 09 01 Jun 09
Stonekeep: Bones of the Ancestors 3/10 WiiWare Interplay 1 RPG - 19 Jan 12

But there are a decent amount of high rated WiiWare games (Nintendo Life reviews).

I got Fluidity (hydroventure) free (temporary Club Nintendo offer) with I believe either 200 or 250 Club Nintendo points which isn't that bad for a $12 game.

You could just buy me a game. Gift it to me. Problem solved.

I don't know about you man but I had a few bucks in my wallet already from a previous situation so I picked up Wonder Boy without a $5 transaction. It doesn't really bother me since the extra money will be used and my wallet will go to $0 when I purchase anything above $5.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

You are in the wrong region, but your idea is good. KylieDog should give me a gift or two.

He really owes me though. I have to put up with him in Lost Planet 2. Not easy.

What? Government interference allows for screwing of the consumer in favor of a megacorp? Say it aint so!

In Western europe most retailers will refuse to process credit or debit cards bellow a certain amount. And it has nothing to do with government regulations.

They just don't want to  have to incure costs related to processing small amount.

As for the US government at the same time they raised the cap they actually capped the amount bank can charge retailers for processing cards payment so it's not all black or white...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
