Reports from Japanese games media outlets began surfacing last week, indicating that Square Enix is bringing a new title in the cult-hit World Ends With You universe to iOS and Android. The title is being developed in conjunction with Japanese mobile social gaming powerhouse GREE and will run on GREE's social gaming platform.

Details are scarce for now, but we do know that the game's full title is The World Ends With You: LIVE Remix and that it is due out this Winter. The game will reportedly take place in a world "parallel" to that of the original game, and star a new navigator.

 

Most of GREE's titles coming from big franchises significantly tweak the gameplay. Examples include a Metal Slug-branded card game and Assassin's Creed Utopia, a title that incorporates social town-building elements. For now TWEWU: LR's gameplay details remain under wraps. But the game's initial media seem to show off action-oriented gameplay similar to the original TWEWU.

You're so behind the times. You should be complaining about all the obnoxious social and IAP-based features that this title will obviously have.

It did remind me that I need to go buy the Solo Remix, though... and trade in the DS cart.

Could they put anything more on the screen there?

I think the noise library still fits there, Square! And of course, you can set aside a corner for a small tin pin slam mini game too!

The combat is more interesting on ds if u have the 2 screens and don't turn it off. Solo remix isn't as frantic and for me as fun.

Solo remix just makes shiki or whoever another badge. 

The graphics and sound are way better... And I can play it whenever im bored anywhere. Ifq you absolutely love the combat. The ds is still definitive version IMO.

Yeah, I turned off the top screen. I found myself more than busy enough using pin powers and the top screen felt like a cumbersome and unrewarding distraction, so a one-screen TWEWY should suit me fine.

yeah then it should be perfect... and I didn't mean ds is definitive version, idk why I said it but I clearly did. The compressed audio on DS bugged me, haha
