Forums - General - Disney Buys LucasFilm; New Star Wars Movie! ........ What? UPDATE: Lucas' Reign of Terror is OVER!

I don't know why we need any more Star Wars movies. The first one was a phenomenon. People would go back and see it again and a again.

The sequels, not so much. And the first prequel was just so frustrating. Some beautiful scenery - and Jar jar binks. Even if I was little kid, I think I would have hated him.

Well, it will be interesting to see what people do with it. And I wonder if they includes the game division - or is that alreay gone?

A Lukas Arts game - Loom - was really interesting back in the day.

It includes the game division. Everything LucasArts is now owned by Disney. We're not uncertain whether or not Star Wars 1313 will ever be released or if it will get canned (since Disney hates video game consoles), but it will most likely still get through to release. I highly doubt we'll see anything after that.

The redeeming hope is that Disney continues to license out the Star Wars brands to companies who will make good games for consoles/PC.

In theory, this sounds awsome, but the more I think about it the more I start thinking that they will completly ruin the Star Wars franchise.

Episode 1-3 sucked, and I don't see how Disney could make them any better. Now a new trilogy, episode 7 means that this will be post-Darth Vader/Empire... No obi-wan, no Annakin, no palpatine and more importantly NO YODA! (unless they make him a ghost or something, wich would be even worst). This means only 2 options, creat a bunch of new character and new threats to the republic, or continue on Luke, Han-Solo and Lela's story and I never cared about any of these characters.

episodes 1-3 did NOT 'suck'. Only a hypersensitive old school SW fan thinks that.

1: was good overall, but had a two bad characters. (jarjar and young anakin)
2: was very good overall
3: was great

Only negative that relates to Episodes 1-3 is how Lucas used them to change a few plots and scenes in Episodes 4-6.

Lucas did not ruin your childhood, I promise.

There is a lot of story. Its a big universe and it doesn't need the classic characters to be good.

Only hypersensitive old school SW fanboys think the prequels suck? There are plenty of people who don't fit that category who do not enjoy the prequels as much as the originals.

Then you go on to list your personal opinion about the movies as if they are more than just your opinion. ... And then you downtalk Metrium as if he's merely a child who doesn't know any better for himself on whether or not his childhood was "ruined" by these movies.

Come on man, you're above these kinds of posts.

Indiana Jones too, huh?

So, with Episode 7 planned for a 2015 release, that means from then on we'll probably be seeing a new StarWars and Indiana Jones every other year, first one, the next year the other. Kinda like COD.

I pretty much agree with you and I'm an old school Star Wars fan, just not a hypersensitive one.

1: Loved the podrace and Darth Mall battle. Hated Jar Jar and the Senate

2: Loved the Clone War, Light Saber Battles, and Obi Wan's space fight. Hated the mystery stuff, forced romance and the droid factory.

3. No complaints. Enjoyed the whole thing.

4. LOVE IT.

5. LOVE IT THE MOST.

6. LOVE IT, EVEN THE EWOKS.

Not enjoying the prequels as much as og trilogy is not the same thing as stating that they all sucked. Granted it is all based on opinion, but it kills me when people down talk the prequels or remakes of many other movies where it didn't fit their vision of the story and claim it sucked or ruined the series/IP.

Its just a personal peeve of mine, sorry.

Ok, I admit that saying that 1-3 sucked is a overstatement. But IMO

1: Sucked

2: Was ''ok'', had some shitty moments but also had it's moments of greatness

3: Was good for the first 2/3 of the movie, last 1/3 was awsome.

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

Owning Star Wars is all well and good, for comics it surely means the franchises of Star Wars will move over to Marvel again.

This all said there is one key part of LucasFilm that would be far more interesting than any other part of it for Disney.
Industrial Light & Magic.

Hmm, pie.

As long as they are good, I'd be totally cool with that. =) It'd give me a reason to actually go to the movie theater more than once every other year.

these are amazing news!! please be real, and Disney makes great stuff in cinemas!

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
