This whole 'forced Vita functionality' thing is getting out of hand, to be honest. Where's the line between utilising the features of the console and claiming that anything beyond buttons is bad?
For example, Super Mario Galaxy. If I wanted to pick up star bits I had to point the Wii-mote at the screen. If I wanted Mario to spin I had to shake the Wii-mote. Flying that bird thing in SMG2 required holding the remote level and tilting it (and it was horribly unresponsive) I hated all of these things. I am one of those people who just likes playing with a traditional controller in my hands. But did that sully my experience with the game? Did it balls. The game was fantastic in spite of these things.
I'm fully willing to concede that if AC3: Liberation just isn't that good, then it isn't that good. Framerate issues and whatever dragging the game down. I haven't played it so I cannot form my own personal opinion. But where is the line drawn where you look past 'new' forms of control and review the game as a whole? Are we going to be getting Wii-U reviews next month saying "Touching the screen for control is the best thing ever!" or are they going to be as tough on it as they are being on Vita? I suspect the former, but we'll have to wait and see.
