How can that be? In what way is Borderlands 2 significantly different?

Much much better in every way imaginable. There's a reason why it has a much better review score.

Now I'm curious. From my understanding the sequel (according to reviews) is just a refined version of the original, but nothing has essentially changed.

My main problem with the original Borderlands was that it was far too adapted to co-op play, which made the missions extremely simple and repetitive, and the overarching story presentation was so laid back and subtle that I found the whole game meaningless.

Main story is much deeper now. You will meet all playable characters from the first Borderlands on your journey.  The world is much less sterile. Lots of NPCs now and many have their own bunch of side stories to give, game length has been doubled. Much more different looking weapons. Many more enemy types.
Still a heavy focus on co-op but it's much more enjoyable than the first Borderlands on a solo playthrough.

I guess all those points are mentioned in the Gametrailers review as well so go watch it !

That sounds like the kind of changes I would have asked for! Guess I have to buy it after all, at least when it hits the 25 Euro price point. I love the Wastelands as a setting and concept.

Nowadays I avoid reviews of games that I know I'm going to buy because I want the experience to be as fresh as possible but I think I'll do an exception with this then.

Witcher 2 on 360 looks way better than this.

Take that back.

I watched the GT review and now I'm so hyyyyyyped!

I smell a masterpiece. I love that there seems to be so many different things to do, even the mundane things.

And the landscapes! Can't wait to go into the wilderness and just enjoy being there.

And damn, the graphics fidelity on the X360 version that was reviewed looked almost like a 1080p game! I'm worried the PS3 version will look much muddier and grainy.

Seriously stop with looking at versions of the games. Look at the one that has the most reviews and put focus on that one. We use meta to get a somewhat ..score based upon as many opinions as possible and not as few as possible. Meta prioritizes the 360 more hence fills that one in more throughly. Half of the 360 reviews are PS3 reviews as well really and vice versa too! So stop bickering and acting like the scores of +2 or -2 means shit due to the reviews being less. Pick the one with the highest AMOUNT Of reviews and leave it at that.

I dunno, I like the muddy yet shadowy look of the PS3 version. It's more accurate and realistic and gritty. It had the same difference for GTA. I can't fault peole for liking the smoother look and lighting of the 360 version. The 360 version is vibrant while the PS3 version is just dark. Depends on what you like aesthetically.

i would say sony said to ubisoft "let's make a nice assassins creed 3 bundle + you will get nice e3 stage time at the sony stage and you make little bit more content for us then"

this makes sense to me as that e3 demo at sony's conference was pretty long and we had already seen alot of the game at ubisofts own conference. They may be trying to combat people like me who bought the original assassins creed for xbox and want us to break ties with that loyality which i have done aswell due to these bonus missions plus the conner mission in liberation psvita game if have ps3 version which made the ps3 version the most cost-benefit version for me.

I have played about 2 hours and am almost finished with sequence 2 and I am in love with the game. It is a bit slow to begin with but I think its still great and is way better than brotherhood and revelations. Its just as good as AC2 too, IMO. I would give it a solid 9 so far and I haven't ran into any bugs at all as of yet.

Sounds promising. I like games that start out slow and I like to take my time with each Assassin's Creed game, usually putting up to 40 hours into each one of them.

Red Dead Redemption started very slow too and that's an absolute masterpiece.

Ya I am taking my sweet time with this game and taking it all in. Everything is bigger and better in AC3.  The controls and combat are very fluid and the animations are kickass.  Although, the combat is changed a lot from the previous games and is hard to get used to, but it is so much better.  I don't agree with most of the reviews at all.   But yes, the game so far is promising.

Pretty bad reviews, for the hype. Hopefully Halo 4 is as good as the hype.

Holy crap

Ive only played the first two chapters but this game is absolutly brilliant. Pretty darn amazing

Demon Soul's got an 89 and won some GOTY awards...

Imo most 90+ games don't deseverve being a 90+ game but whatever.

The argument that an 89 and 90 metascore is a huge differences is just stupid.
It's a bunch of 7,8,9,10's averaged. The difference can be attributed to what sites reviewed it, how many sites reviewed it etc.

Maybe you can make the argument that an 8.9 review is different than a 9.1 by a that same reviewer, based on someones screwy logic. But the difference between 89, and 90 is one Jim Sterling.
