This would be a reference of the best selling "hardcore" exclusive/premiere IP on Nintendo platforms since 1995 or so.
My criteria was the games should have come out on Nintendo consoles first and/or been exclusive for a certain period of time. No Mario/Zelda games are considered, no mascot based IP (sorry DK, Sonic, Kirby, Yoshi, etc.) nor any more "kid centric" properties (ie: Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Disney, Lego, etc.). Don't get your pants in a twist, just wanted to narrow the comparison down to be relevant to a game like ZombiU.

Conclusions: GoldenEye on N64 obviously is in a different stratosphere. N64 actually had Nintendo's best selling "hardcore" games. The arrival of Microsoft into the gaming business probably hurt Nintendo here.
Wii, despite it's much larger usberbase than SNES, N64, or GCN (pretty much the same size as all three combined) has not been able to sell more in this product categorey.
N64 was actually pretty good at selling hardcore games, with even things like sports games (NFL QB Club, NBA Courtside), FPS shooters, Star Wars titles, and racers (1080/Wave Race/F-Zero) really doing well. GameCube and Wii have been steps backwards.
