Forums - Gaming - GTA V coming Spring 2013 to PS3, X360. UPDATE: it's official now, R* confirms

even if that person had a Wii U and bought that version R* didnt make any extra money as that person would have bought it on PS360 anyway

Technically if they bought it on another console even though they already have it they still sold another copy. Really the idea of putting it on more systems is expanding the fanbase. Or alternatively giving a choice on the table for those who own multiple systems.

And for the guy laughing up the idea, people said devil may cry, final fantasy and metal gear would never get on 360. Despite the fact xbox had metal gear solid anyway. Would it really be surprising to see this happen?

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

I'm so damn pumped for this game! Even just the small tidbits we've seen have look great. Can't wait for the huge information blowout that will hit very soon.

@Mr. Khan people who want GTA have made their console choice years ago, hell GTA4 can still be seen in the top 100 sales weekly even to this day and for your 2nd point, kind of moot in this instance since no one even owns a Wii U yet. Lets wait to see if they are going to do a late port, before we start throwing bile.

I reserve the right to spew bile at companies that have screwed Nintendo over in the past: EA, Bethesda, Epic, iD, Take Two, and Rockstar.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

you missed my point totally, there are very few people that are going to buy mutiple copies of the same game, that doesnt really make sense. So no R* didnt sell an extra copy cause the multiplat owner would buy it either for WiiU or another HD system they own. Not two. But im not against choices, im just seeing it from R*'s point of view and i see why they would pass on it.

There's a difference between paying for exclusivity and deliberately ignoring one of the major platform-holders. We're not entitled to every game, but we are entitled to all multiplat games, because there's no good reason for it to not go that way.

You're not entitled to anything made by a third party because you own a single console mate, that's the nature of being 'third party' - they're not tied to any specific platform and have relative freedom change their minds at any time. R* do not owe anything to owners of any specific platform.

The only games you get to play on the Wii U are games Nintendo has secured and deemed fit for release. You're 'entitled' to those and those only. Same for any console.

So, by your logic, PS3-only owners aren't entitled to the game either... after all, that's the nature of R* being 3rd party...

Face it:  The vast majority of 3rd party games today are multiplats; particularly one as big as GTA.  What he means by "entitled" is that there is no good reason why the game shouldn't release on WiiU as well (and I actually believe there is a good chance it will, albeit late).  If inferior versions of COD for Wii can break 1m in sales, there is little reason to assume that an on-par port of GTA5 for WiiU - one that would be a vastly easier port to boot - wouldn't sell enough to justify it.

I agree that the majority certainly have, but you do realize that tens of thousands of people around the world every day are buying their first games console, don't you?

Considering that GTA5 isn't even released yet, it's not absurd to assume that many new console owners - yes, even potential WiiU owners - may have an interest in the game.

Very true, hence why they would probably opt for the PS360 and or PC if they wanted to play GTA. THis isnt some new franchise and people arent that ignorant. They know GTA and they know what consoles play those. Not saying that a Wii U wouldnt do ok.

You are aware, that releasing games is no charity? It's a business. R* want to make money. They don't care if Wii U manages to convice core gamers to itself or not. They just think about themselves, as it should be. I think that they will release a Wii U port later with the PC version. If not to sell many copies, then just to get some experience making games for the Wii U. But until Wii U sells a respectable number of consoles, you can't really demand all games that are very expensive to make and traditionally don't sell on Nintendo consoles. Just consider Vita. It's just a business, so forget about emotional arguments about hatred, being prejudiced or screwing Nintendo over, cause it's childish. Think how many developers went bust in the last 2 years. You say R* is huge? Think about THQ. If going to Wii U pays, everybody will do it.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
