Do you know of any RT versions other than Surface Diso?

I'm not interested in desktop stuff. Seems a waste to spend that much and not use it.

There is 4 other ones that have RT i think. Samsung, lenovo, asus, dell. They all come across as very indistinguishable, other than Lenovo which will soon offer a Yoga lika ultra book with ARM and RT.

If one really wants RT only, it's Surface or nothing.

I played with five different laptops with win8 yesterday and yeah... no like. They were all ultrabooks and they all had the same issue while messing with the metro interface. It sucked.

However, the touch screen options or the desktops with a mouse... all worked flawlessly. So I think it just came down to the trackpads and something to do with responsiveness or lack there of.

Overall I'm interested in win8 and will get a full version disc sent to me soon for $99 and throw that on my two PCs.

But for tablet... I will like stick with Android and pick up a Nexus7 or 10. I will also likely pick up a the new Chromebook for $250 as I think that better fits my needs and usage... except maybe the wife. As a teacher she needs a specific setup to work with her schools network/security and grading system. So with that, I may get the surface pro or a laptop in the same price range. Not sure yet. BlackFriday will be my decision maker on that.

Whats the difference between the Pro and RT?

Pro is x86 based processors. i.e. Intel and AMD. It runs full 'normal' windows8 and is no different than any other laptop/desktop in terms of OS.

RT is ARM based processors. i.e. phones/tablets. It runs a scaled version of windows8 that is intended to match the software capabilities of win8 but, at least initially, will be heavily lacking in full software features.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/compare has some generic stuff too.

RT is built on an ARM system on a chip architecture. This is new to windows universe and because it's new it has no legacy support for windows programs that have made it the most popular platform in the last 20 years. You want to install VLC to watch xvid files? You can't on RT. want to install the tax software you bought last year? Can't...

Instead you need to get all your programs from the new windows app store for the RT. it's a locked system, much like the iPad...

Windows 8 pro is the real deal running on the same pc hardware it's always been.  Full backwards compatibility with progrms, install everything and anything ever made for windows ecosystem...and full access to the app store that RT uses as well.
